静かでプライベートな1.5エーカーの敷地内にあるこの美しいオーシャンフロントの隠れ家は、カズンズ島の橋を渡ったところにあり、歴史的なヤーマスビレッジから目と鼻の先にあり、ポートランドの有名なアートシーン、レストラン、ユニークなブティック、フリーポートの有名なアウトレットショッピングに数分です、そしてケネバンクポートからカムデンまでの美しい日帰り旅行や冒険がたくさんあります。 発明家によって建てられたこの家は、至る所で多くの巧妙な発明を喜ばせることでしょう。 この家はメインアーティストや職人のオリジナルアートでいっぱいで、その多くは「オフシーズン」の敷地内で仕事と勉強をしています。

We had a wonderful time at this waterfront retreat. The views of the ocean were beautiful! Swimming off the dock was invigorating! Our host was welcoming, warm and helpful. Great location...close to many good restaurant and lots of outdoor adventures. Highly recommended.

A most marvelous home and location. The house is spacious and very nicely decorated. Beautiful art throughout. Lots of windows with views. Comfortable beds with nice linens. Large kitchen with everything you need to cook. The location is superb. Very quiet and peaceful. Waterfront with a great view. Easy access to water, dock, and several places to sit outdoors. Amazing sunset views. Tamson, the host, is wonderful! So very helpful and happy to share local information. Yarmouth and surrounding towns are easy to get to and charming. We had a lovely time!

We needed both an escape from Boston and a chill place to celebrate my husband’s birthday and Tam’s retreat delivered! Every day we were at the dock reading and swimming, walked our dog down to island dock/rock beach, and just enjoyed the property. This place is just what we needed. The cottage is also so beautifully decorated and homely I’m taking notes for my own home! Tam was also a fantastic host. We are 100% coming back to hangout again

The view from the cottage is gorgeous. It's impossible not to relax...and that says a lot coming from a mom who had two kids under 6 with her ;). Tamson was welcoming, kind, attentive and wanted to ensure we had the best stay. She and her partner, Henry were so thoughtful and let our girls play with her two adorable Havanese dogs (knowing that our pup passed away a few months ago). We took great day trips to Freeport, Kinnebunkport, Portland and the surrounding islands. Gorgeous little slice of the earth to visit!

Perfect stay for our annual fall trip. The accommodations were spectacular. Right on the water and extremely quiet. Tamson was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Will be back again!

We (two couples) stayed at this lovely home for the week and it met our expectations. We docked our boat for the week and took many small excursions, ate some lobsters and relaxed. Maine certainly has the charm we were looking for. Thanks

A terrific gathering place

It was a wonderful stay at the artist retreat cottage. Three couples gathered to enjoy the coast of Maine - Tamson's home was a comfortable, cozy and great location! It was a steamy, humid start to our week and required all fans going strong (plenty of fans, no a/c). Cousins Island is dreamy in the summertime and we hope to be back.

Great experience

We had a great time at this property. We had a mix of ages, ranging from 25-82. The older folks enjoyed gazing out the window at the Casco Bay, and walking around the property and local area. The location is very quiet on Cousins Island. For younger and middle age folks (me and my wife - 50s), we went on a bike ride with the bikes provided. My wife, who is a runner, was able find running trails through the woods and also on the roads which are sparsely traveled. These same trails allow for several mile walks through the woods if desired. The property owner also provides access to a kayak and a boat dock on the Casco Bay. The property itself is very accommodating and clean, comfortably sleeping 6 or possibly more. It is very nice and secluded. The property owner is helpful and accessible if any issues arise. We had a lot of fun and will likely be back again.

It doesn't get better than this.....

Maine has been our "go-to" fall vacation, and especially as we've stayed here on Cousin's Island for about 4-5 times. Not only is the property amazing (cozy & charming house with breathtaking views, privacy, close to an incredible town, Yarmouth, and 30" from Portland) but the owner, Tamson, has been so incredibly generous and hospitable we've developed a friendship over our love for Maine, New-England in general, and travels/more. We can't speak more highly of our stay!

My family and I (5 adults) recently stayed at this property for a week and we had a wonderful time. Tamson, the owner, has it decorated beautifully with no detail forgotten. It is as if she lives there. There are plenty of towels, kitchen equipment, condiments, etc. and all the many amenities that one hopes to find in a rental are there. The house is located on a small Island accessible by bridge and is convenient for day trips to Camden, Boothbay Harbor and Portland for dinner. We enjoyed our relaxing stay there very much and hope to return one day. Thanks for everything Tamson!

Great location, Great hostess!

Tamson is an amazing hostess! She is available and just lovely to be with. The location of this property is fantastic. Waterfront. Easy access to Portland, Freeport, lobster, and Whoopie Pies! I believe Tamson is looking to make some upgrades. Most specifically we would like to suggest brand new bedding, and at least window a/c units. We also struggled a bit with ants, the TV, and hot water in the shower. Having said that, Tamson is so eager to make your stay wonderful we are sure she will take any suggestions to heart. Hey Sue, it was wonderful to have you with us this summer, and I just wanted to update you on a few things. The week after you left, we installed a central air system so that going forward everyone should be warm and toasty in the winter and nice and cool in the summer. As far as the bedding is concerned, there is a large linen closet off the master bedroom that is filled with bedding for all of the three bedrooms (Some still in the packaging). As you know I had Spectrum come the day you arrived to straighten out the internet connection, so that shouldn't have been a problem. As far as the hot water goes, I was unaware it was an issue, but I have now had my plumber replace the control mechanism and it works a dream! So happy that you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to seeing you again!

Peace and Quiet on Cousins Island

My goal was to find a location, secluded, in the middle of the woods with fall colors and on the water. The bonus for our family was meeting Tamson, the owner of the cottage. What a gem. She's done a wonderful job with the cottage. Very clean, added some great amentities with the fireplaces and beautiful paintings. Found our favorite restaurant in Yarmouth, Royal River Grill. On par with the best food we had in downtown Portland, but the decor and food were second to none. Loved the quaintness of the town. The only way the lobster could have been fresher was having it delivered to the dock, which I hear that happens every now and then. Perfect location to Freeport for shopping and Wolfe's Neck Trail for hiking. Would highly recommend for couples and family.

Perfect family cottage with views, art, and quiet surroundings

A magical cottage close enough to Portland and surrounding areas so that everything is convenient. But you won’t want to leave. The view from the house is enchanting. Cousins Island is beautiful with water every way you turn. The night sky and general quiet of the area are amazing. Plus, one could spend days just looking at all the artwork in the house. Tamson is a wonderful host, friendly and energetic. She made sure we knew about events going on in Yarmouth during our visit, provided restaurant recommendations, and made us feel at home. Plus, she’s right next door and so always available. Note: Some of the furniture in the current set of photos has been moved to different rooms, and there is much more outdoor furniture than shown. With so many places to sit outside, it’s easy to spend the day moving from sun to shade and back again a few of times without sitting in the same place.

Lovely Retreat in Yarmouth on the water

We had an absolutely lovely 2 week stay at the "artist cottage", which is full of beautiful and amazing art (all from Maine artists). Such a comfortable and lovely house, great spaces on every floor. We loved being right on the water, such lovely sunsets, and a dock ! Easy access to the Sandy Point beach, Freeport is only about 20 minutes away and Portland about 30, so lots of fun in either direction. The artist studio up the little hill of the property was an added bonus for me, as I brought some simple projects to work on during a few of the rainy days. Our host, Tamson, was so lovely to give suggestions for activities. She is a true Mainer, grew up in Yarmouth, and knows the state very well!! Its nice when the homeowner lives next door and can offer advice and about outings and has detailed knowledge of the area, and is a kind a gentle soul. She loves dogs, so you can bring yours! I hope we can return for another stay some day. Thanks Tamson-we loved the house :-)

Living next door to a construction project

If you are open to being in a home next door to a construction project, than this is the right spot for you. In spite of requests dating back to November of 2021 to confirm that construction would be completed by the time of our visit, there was a stone mason (with noise cancelling headphones), a tractor, painting, and wood clearning all happening during our stay. We have video footage. Tamson was accomodating in that we left early as is this was not the retreat we expected though we would have expected a full refund for the days that we were onsite with construction (which did not occur). Also note that the artist cottage is actually the "post office" for the neighbors so if your vision is to work in the space, you will be overlooking a port-a-potty and not in a private location. We were also told that there was a community event being hosted by a "neighbor" which was actually an event hosted by Tamson which resulted in a full-day event next-door, followed by an estate sale.

Lovely home & property but terrible experience with massive construction site and manipulative owner

We planned a monthlong stay at this property to relax and reunite with family we had not seen from across the country in almost 2 years due to Covid. Tamson lives next door on ode side of the house and is constructing a new home directly on the other side of the home we rented. This was shocking to us. The construction began each morning at 7:30am and Tamson stated she could not change the schedule nor would she cease the construction during our month long stay. My family and I were shocked at the constant level of noise and interruptions. Related to our inability to escape the construction noise, Tamson advertises that her property has air conditioning, however it does not. It is a three story home and has one mobile air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms. This meant that while the construction noise was at its worst (explosives blowing up the ground, trucks backing up, backhoes, diggers, cement pouring, etc) we could not sit outside and enjoy nature or the water, nor could we even hide and stay inside the house and close the windows to have peace and quiet because it was simply too hot. Tamson apologized profusely and kindly offered us gifts, but refused to discount our rental, until she changed her mind and agreed to give me a small but fair discount off the rental price. I was very grateful and thankful. Two days before we were leaving to head home, Tamson dropped off more flowers, another apology and another (unsolicited) check for another small deduction off the rental. I gratefully accepted the check, and her apology and told her there were no hard feelings and that was that. As I returned home, I learned that Tamson charged my credit card the max amount for damages (she has not provided any proof, photos, etc) and she stopped payment on the second check she offered me. I understand Covid has affected everyone everywhere, but there is no way that this house should be on the rental market with this kind of construction taking place inches from the house. I am shocked and disappointed by this owner’s actions and felt it was necessary to share my family’s experience with anyone considering renting this property soon.

Great location with a stunning sunset

Tamsin is a gracious and responsive host with a well appointed cottage. The proximity to Portland, Brunswick, and Bath gave us ample touring options. Hiking and kayaking from the property are easy and fun. You will enjoy your stay.

Amazing Stay on Cousins Island

We were at the Artist Cottage for a week in early September. The cottage itself is charming and decorated perfectly with original art and practical antiques. The beds were very comfortable. The location is beautiful with inspiring views of Costco Bay. Our host was friendly and thoughtful. A perfect week to relax!

Cousin's Island bliss

The host, Tamson, was fantastic and always available. The house all the amenities and more. The location and views were super. Will definitely return.

Excellent cottage

My wife and I (and our dog) stayed at the Artist Cottage over Christmas 2021. It was a truly excellent stay. The cottage itself is in terrific condition, extremely well kept up. Tamson has wonderful taste in art, decoration, and furniture, so it really was a pleasure to stay there. It is well appointed--the kitchen is totally stocked with everything you'd need, and the beds are very comfortable (with really high quality linens). We obviously didn't use any of the outdoor items (it was 25 degrees and snowing most of the time) but from looking around it seemed to have tons of chairs and other outdoor furniture that would be great in the summer (and lots of books and board games). The location is wonderful--very quiet and lovely, but only 5 minutes from the middle of Yarmouth and 10-15 minutes from downtown Portland; very convenient. Tamson was out of town during our stay, but was in communication with us as much as we needed, both before and during our stay, and was very friendly and helpful the whole time. It was a perfect experience, and we would 100% stay there again!

The Artist Cottage

I have stayed at many VRBOs and this cottage stands head over heels the best! So much love and attention is poured into this cottage! The artwork is amazing, the sunsets are phenomenal and our host dropped off a box of local raspberries with key lime vintage locally made yogurt! What a treat! One of the best vacations our family too because there is so much to do on day trips ! Be sure to do the Portland Schooner which sails for 2 hours in Casco Bay!!

Woodhull Pub for Asian/Mexican fusion--the Pha authentic....Rosemont's, the specialty market - great fish, meats, wine, baked goods...green grocer too...Hannafords for the big shop. Stroll down Main Street and stop at the indie and fab Royal River Books, Alison Evans for exquisite ceramics, Handy's for a slice of Otto's pizza...steep yourself in historic Yarmouth and an exhibition in the Stonewall Gallery at the Yarmouth History Center...Take a class at the LL Bean Outdoor Experience/Center... stop and listen in a concert or impromtpu class at 317 Main Community Music Center...Sign up for an art class or a weekend "retreat" at the Bickford Education Center(bec) art center....Enjoy the restored trucks and interactive "yard art" at the Bickford Collection Pavilion and Museum-Stop at the library for a movie or art show-Gingham, the new "conservative hip" womens clothing store-The beaches on island --one Sandy the other rocky-Royal River Pqrk-Biking and walking trails stretch from one end of Town to the other.
