Welcome to Locust Lodge — your waterfront retreat in Dunnsville, VA. This 6,000 sq. ft. estate has just undergone a stunning half-million-dollar renovation, blending timeless charm with modern luxury.

With 9 beautifully appointed bedrooms — eight featuring plush king beds and one with a cozy full bed — plus four twin rollaway beds available for extra guests, the home comfortably accommodates up to 21 guests.

You’ll enjoy plenty of space to relax with two spacious living rooms, perfect for large gatherings or quiet moments alike. Rainy day? No problem — the game room offers endless fun with a pool table, shuffleboard, arcade machine, and TV.

The property features 6 bathrooms, each fully stocked with essentials. Every detail is designed for comfort, including central heating and air conditioning, high-speed WiFi, and more.

Step outside to enjoy your huge private beach and dock, where you can soak up the sun, launch a kayak, or simply take in breathtaking views of the Rappahannock River.

This house was perfect for our family. It had everything we were looking for and more. The layout was great. The kids really enjoyed the dock for fishing, the game room and the basketball court. Honestly, we all turned into kids for the week with all the fun things to do. We put miles on the kayaks and paddle board. And the kitchen had all that you would need (multiple kinds of coffee makers!!) and it was gorgeous! The two ice machines were able to keep up with our entire family and our giant cups for our river days. The view when you walk in set the mood for the entire week - so special!

Property was everything we hoped for. The first floor was perfect for hosting my older family, which the walkout bottom floor was perfect for the younger bunch. The property is well planned, with comfortable accommodations for guests, with the comfort of home with a beautiful view! The access to the river with kayaks and paddle boards and ample beach front lounging area, the entire group was very happy with their stay.Thank you for being so kind to us, and sharing your gem of a property with my family and friends.You are missing out if you don’t book! Great family vacation location

One of the best vacation properties we have rented for our bi-annual family vacations (10 adults and 14 grandchildren). Plenty of indoor space and lots of amenities. The river was great for swimming for all ages and a spacious lawn for activities. Everyone had a great time!

Great Family vacation

Awesome stay

We had a great time at Locust Lodge and Allen was a great host. The 9 dads and 19 kids in our party had fun playing in the water, fishing, kayaking, and watching movies. Awesome weekend!

Beautiful!

Allen was so accommodating and such a wonderful host. Their home is so beautiful and the views are breathtaking. There was plenty of room for our family and the house was very kid friendly. We would definitely recommend and would stay again!!

Beautiful property

We have rented on Vrbo many times and by far this was the best place ever. Accommodations For everything and everyone you could imagine.Homeowner was always available and took the time to show you everything in the house . Will definitely rent again

Fabulous Lodge

Property was fantastic for our Family birthday celebration. More then enough rooms, beds, baths, kitchen and dining. Outdoor river dock and beach were used extensively. Can’t beat the sunrise from the deck or dock.

The perfect spot for us

For us -- a dozen women in our mid-seventies-- Locust Lodge was perfect. Tranquil, spacious, plenty of room (and bathrooms!), lots of room to cook. We loved sitting out on the dock in the late afternoon, sitting on the deck in the morning, spreading out in the living room, talking all the while.

Girls weekend.

Perfect spot for young and old!

Allen was quite helpful every step of the way! I don't think there was anything we needed that wasn't provided. Our only regret was not booking our stay for a longer period. Perfect spot for our Family Reunion with plenty to do!

Great place for family to gather

We had a great week, and Allen was the best host. He answered every question we had. When we were visited by Tropical Storm Debbie, Allen was very proactive to make sure we knew everything we needed to know to have a safe and happy time at Locust Lodge. Highly recomend Allen and Locust Lodge for family gatherings.

Wonderful Stay on the River

Our group of 14 had a fantastic vacation getaway at Locust Lodge! The house had everything we could ask for, a huge backyard with easy water access, and a perfect river view. Allen, the property owner, was super accommodating and friendly. He met us at the property when we arrived and took the time to give us a tour and answered any questions we had. I would highly recommend Locust Lodge to anyone and hope to visit again soon!

Family vacation

We were a family group of 21 and their was plenty of room for all of us. Allen is a great host to work with. You can stay at the house and enjoy everything there without leaving just bring food and clothes. Everything you need is there. Wish we could of stayed longer.

We had an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving holiday at this lovely house. It was perfect for our group of 13 (and could have accommodated many more!). Everyone was so comfortable, the views of the river were glorious, the game room was fabulous (SO many games of pool were played among the cousins), the comfy couches - upstairs and down - and giant TVs meant that everyone could relax, read, or watch football and movies. The double refrigerators were perfect for holding all of our meals, the icemaker ensured our beverages were cold, and there was enough serve- and bakeware for all food prep. It really made our family time over the holiday so special to be able to enjoy it together in this wonderful home, with the gracious and responsive assistance both before our stay and during from our host Blake.

Roomy House on the river

Allen is a great host, easy to get a hold of and gives great instructions! We had a large group of 20+ and we never felt cramped or that our needs were not met. The house is as advertised and we would love to stay here again!

Incredible gathering place for families

We had an amazing trip to the Locust Lodge! We had a group of 23 people ranging in ages from 5-86! There was something for everyone. We didn’t need to leave the house the entire week. Thank you to Allen and his wife for all of their thoughtful details to the home.

Fun Family Rental

Met our expectations. Wonderfully helpful owner. Having to take trash to the dump was a problem. Overall we had a lovely time and were very comfortable.

It is stated in the listing, rental agreement and emails sent to every guest prior to arriving, that "guests are responsible for the removal of all trash". I also tell every guest that if they have any special requests, concerns or needs to let me know. At no time was a concern voiced to me about trash removal, until this review.

Spanish Reunion

Our 4th family reunion, which included 19 of us was held on thanksgiving weekend at the Locust Lodge and the accommodations were great. We had more than enough room and the house provided everything that we needed, all we had to bring was our clothes, toiletries and food. It was a good time and thanks Allen for loaning us your home.

Excellent home, excellent host, great house!

Our family of 24 stayed for a week at this house and had a great time. Allen was a great host: friendly, attentive, and gracious. The house is large and easily accommodated our family. We could actually seat all 24 for dinner. The place has great amenities and is in a great location. We couldn’t recommend it higher and we will be back. Outstanding time!

Excellent for big groups and beach lovers

This was the best vacation home rental we’ve ever had. The private beach and dock were where we spent most of our time. The owners provide kayaks, paddle board, paddle boat and access to fishing equipment and crab pots. You even have use of a golf cart to schlep all your gear from the house to the river. The other standout quality of this rental is a huge, completely stocked kitchen with everything needed to cook for and eat together with our really big family. We had a wonderful vacation and plan to return.

We have a love for the Rappahanock river. This is the 3rd home that we have bought on this beautiful water. This home sits on 2 acres and has a massive beach. We could not pass up the opportunity to be able to make memories with our kids here.

There are several unique factors with this house! Not only is this house large, at 5500 SF, but it has 7 bedrooms, 2 primary bedrooms with bathrooms. The home sits on 2 acres so there is so much yard to play on. Lastly, we just did a huge renovation and spared no expense to be able to offer a truly luxury stay.
