We're the Tuckers and we live in NYC. We moved to NYC in 2013 after 12 years living in London where our 3 children were born. We love living in the city near the park and enjoy all NYC has to offer. We both work and the kids go to school in the city, so we lead busy lives. We never really thought we'd be Hamptons people. Our perception was that the traffic is a bear and it can be pretty stuffy and unfriendly. Then we discovered Hampton Bays. It's only 90 minutes outside of Manhattan and the beaches, restaurants, and amenities make you feel a long long way from the city. It's very family friendly and equally enjoyable for couples. You don't have to fight the traffic headaches in high season to get to Hampton Bays and yet you're well positioned if you want to visit Southampton, or further afield such as Sag Harbor and East Hampton. It's also nicely situated to access the North Fork wine trail in only a 15 minute drive. We've met some of the nicest people in our time there. Service is friendly and professional. When we leave the city and arrive in Hampton Bays we take a breath of the fresh sea air, look up at the clear blue or night sky and feel happy and lighter.

We fell in love with this house and the location. Hampton Bays is closer to the city avoiding the heavy East Hamptons congestion but close enough to enjoy everything the Hamptons offers. Hampton Bays was recommended to us two years ago by a friend who praised the world class beaches, amazing restaurants, shops and ease of access. It's a quiet, charming fishing village surrounded by the Bay. We spent a week and fell in love. We looked at properties for a year and found this perfect, airy, charming family beach house by the bay. It was a rental property in good shape, but needed our tender love and care. We've spent a year renovating the house and amenities to make it our own. We're happy to share with families who will treat it like their own because it's a gem.

Sand Cottage is ideally located in the Southampton hamlet of Hampton Bays... 80 miles from Manhattan with world class beaches and amazing restaurants. You arrive at the house and take a breath of peaceful ocean air and you immediately feel relaxed. The house is 25 yards from the private sandy beach on Shinnecock Bay which is perfect for swimming, kayaking, fishing, sunbathing, and walks at sunrise or sunset. We're always amazed there's almost no one ever on the beach. You can swim out far and it's not deep. It's perfect for kids. The Summer water is warm. We're 1 mile to beautiful Ponquogue Beach on the Atlantic which is fully equipped with beach pavilion, food and snack facilities, and ocean beach life guards. We're a 5 minute drive from famous Hampton's restaurants including Rumba, Cowfish, Edgewater, and Canal Cafe'. There's a fun boat that goes between Rumba and Cowfish so you can book dinner at one, and have drinks at the other after a short boat ride through the bay. We're only a 5 minute walk to Cor J seafood (arguably the Hamptons best fish market) if you fancy throwing lobsters on the BBQ which we love to do. Our favorite is to grab steaks from Scotto's in town and lobster from Cor J for surf and turf with a bottle of local Wolffer Estate rose'. As the evening cools down we light the firepit for a last glass of rose' and s'mores for the kids. Alternatively we love to take a 5 minute drive over the Ponquogue bridge for a glass of Rose' at Sundays or Oaklands while the kids fish and we watch the sunset. It’s the perfect getaway spot! Kids can swim and kayak safely and we love our morning and evening walks on the beach.
