We loved our stay at Pililani. The property was incredible. My kids loved exploring the ground: catching geckos & toads, feeding the koi, swimming & tennis . . . they were so happy there (and the adults had a chance to relax!). I loved my sunrise morning yoga on the patio next to the koi pond.
It cools down in the evenings, we slept with windows open and were very comfortable. Never missed A/C. Loved the occasionally misty rain. It felt magical!
While it's a bit of a drive to get to most places, it is centrally located if you want to "explore it all." Nothing is too far away. We spent a day on the road to Hana, a day on the volcano, a day on the north shore, snorkeling trip to Molokini, and two west shore days. Loved that we could visit Twin Falls separately (on our north shore day) and really take our time there because it's so close, and then have more time for other activities on our road to Hana day.
Pililani had things that were very useful, not sure if they were provided by the host or left behind by other travelers: pool noodles, beach chairs, a cooler, boogie boards, some snorkeling equipment, etc. My daughter loved picking oranges and making fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast (she'd never had that before!) and other smoothies. All in all, if we could afford it, we'd return here EVERY YEAR. It's my favorite vacation rental I've ever stayed in.
