Welcome to our mountain retreat, where nature is our tiny cabin experience. Nestled on the mountainside, our cozy cabin provides the perfect blend of comfort and tranquility, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The cabin is equipped with a comfortable queen bed, offering a cozy retreat for two guests. If you plan to accommodate more, just inform us beforehand, and we'll gladly arrange additional cots or a tent for a supplementary charge (remember to bring your sleeping bags for the cots or extra cabin!).

Wake up to breathtaking mountain views and the soothing sounds of nature as you enjoy your morning coffee amidst the serenity of our picturesque surroundings. Set out on a hike right from your cabin or explore the surrounding area, where adventure awaits around every corner.

As the day winds down, gather around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and indulge in the classic camping tradition of s'mores. Our site also features picnic tables and supplies for your convenience, ensuring a memorable outdoor dining experience.

For added convenience, our premises offer spring-fed water, as well as a separate outdoor shower and primitive toilet facility. Please note that parking is located below the site, requiring a short walk uphill to reach your cabin—a small price to pay for the secluded mountain experience.

Beyond the campground, discover a wealth of activities to delight outdoor enthusiasts. From gem finding expeditions to browsing local art and antique shops or saddling up for a scenic horseback ride at a local ranch, there's something for everyone to enjoy. And with tubing and trout fishing available in the nearby Toe River, as well as skiing just a 45-minute drive away in the winter, adventure is never far from reach.

Plus, don't miss out on the Penland School of Craft, a national craft education center dedicated to the creative life, located just 2.8 miles away—a mere 8 minutes from our doorstep!

Conveniently located just minutes from Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland, and a short drive to Burnsville, Boone, and Asheville, our cabin site offers the perfect base for exploring everything this charming region has to offer.

The host was pleasant and communicated well. The cabin was perfect. I especially liked the outside shower. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and everything was smooth.

Running water in the bath house/toilet would have been a great improvement. I was not expecting a primitive toilet.

I’m sorry to hear that the facilities didn’t meet your expectations. I understand accessibility and comfort are important, especially with mobility challenges. Our setup includes an enclosed outdoor hot/cold shower and an enclosed outhouse, with the cabin positioned to balance privacy and proximity to amenities. I did place you in a cabin I believed would better accommodate your wife’s needs, given the mountainous camping setting. This is a mountain camping site, and terrain can impact accessibility; I also encourage open communication during stays so issues can be addressed immediately. I would have been glad to work out a solution during your stay had I known about the issue. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I wish you both well.

I had an absolutely amazing time at this charming little cabin in the mountains. Michelle was so kind and accommodating, and really helped to make my experience memorable. The location is absolutely goregous; you are able to wake up each morning to the view of mist on the mountains, and if you enjoy hiking you can take advantage of the trails right on the property. Restroom and shower facilities were clean and efficient. The cabin was clean, cozy, and was everything that I needed! After a day of exploring, it was perfect coming back to roast marshmallows and cook my meals on the fire. I felt so at home here, and am already looking forward to returning.

We had so so much fun during our visit! The location is so beautiful, we were so fortunate to see the peak of fall colors and it was breathtaking. We saw the sunrise over the mountains right from our cabin and we had a clear view of the sky for nighttime sky gazing too, the stars are so much brighter! The actual drive to the house was super manageable, didn’t need 4WD so long as you don’t try to drive up the gravel driveway, which Michelle advises against anyway. Michelle was an awesome host, so friendly and welcoming. She showed my girls (10 and 7 yrs old) how she harvested walnuts and other medicinal herbs etc right from her own land. My girls really liked talking to Michelle and they learned a lot. There are endless varieties of trees and plants around to learn about!The cabin itself was very comfortable-small and simple in the best way. It was sufficiently heated and had a mini fridge and basic supplies stocked there. We were plenty warm. There were also lots of windows too, so it didn’t feel cramped. The outdoor shower was great actually, it had plenty of hot water and was not very far from the cabin at all. We will definitely be back in the spring!
