Black Skimmer - Beach front, screened porch, elevator, and pet friendly!

Black Skimmer: Where Barefoot Luxury Meets the Gulf

Perched along the sugar white sand shores of St. George Island, Black Skimmer is a coastal classic reimagined for laid back luxury. This beachfront home effortlessly blends relaxed comfort with bright, modern updates—making it the perfect setting for memory making with friends, family and even your (small) 4 legged companion.

Step inside to find a light soaked great room with soaring blonde tongue and groove ceilings, new coastal furnishings and a panoramic wall of windows that frame endless Gulf views. The heart of this home flows seamlessly to a screened porch dotted with Adirondack chairs, where ocean breezes and sunset toasts come standard.

The primary king suite on the east side offers a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, while the west wing features a second king bedroom that shares a hallway bathroom with a shower/tub combo with the adjacent queen & bunk room—perfect for kids or cousins who whisper late into the night.

A brand new boardwalk leads you straight to the white sand and thoughtful updates throughout—including new appliances, furnishings and fresh décor—make every stay feel special. Need extra convenience? An elevator is available for a fee of $150 and pets under 35 lbs. are welcome with prior approval.

Black Skimmer welcomes your toes in the sand and invites you to settle into Island time—just the way St. George intended.

The house is beautiful and worked for our family of five. I really liked how there was one primary bedroom on one side of the house and then the other rooms on the other side of the house. You can't beat the view and access to the beach. The house is comfortable and clean.

Yes we were right on the beach and a beautiful beach it is!! The house has been recently redone in 2025 I believe and they did a fantastic job. A couple of suggestions I have are for a hair dryer in baths and a Keuric/pod coffee maker.

If you want a house right on the beach with views and uncrowded conditions, this is it! Black Skimmer is a well-equipped and up-to-date house with tons of space and large screened in porches to take it all in comfortably. We had a couple of times when we needed to contact the host and they were very fast to respond and take care of things. Comfy beds, cozy sofas and chairs when inside and a direct boardwalk for beach time, or lounge on those porches! Views, views, views! Sunrises from the left and sunsets to the right! Nearby are shops and restaurants or go over to Apalachicola FL (15-20 mins) for more history and shops. We always have our dog with us so being pet-friendly was appreciated. Dogs with leash on the beach are allowed and that made things fun too!

Family Vacation at the Black Skimmer

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time at the Black Skimmer! The house was beautifully decorated and like new. We really enjoyed the back screened in porch where we could still enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean when the weather was too windy or rainy to be on the beach. Loved the big closets and plenty of storage in the laundry room so the kitchen was not cluttered. Very spacious rooms and plenty of seating!

Black Skimmer was an awesome rental. The view and location on the beach were outstanding. The screened porch on front and rear were perfect. The open deck off the master bedroom was delightful! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything from large pots for a shrimp boil to muffin pans and a hand mixer to entertain our grandchildren. Wine glasses and barware were nicely appointed. We fixed skinny Marguaritas and squeezed juice with the press provided. Also found a garlic press for the meals we fixed in the house. Maybe some time for some beefier towels for the showers. The stripped towels were showing their age. All said, we found Black Skimmer perfect for our daughter and husband, granddaughters and their black lab! We loved our stay!

Absolutely Perfect

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was quiet elegance and comfort. We brought my father who is just finishing cancer treatment. The elevator made it so simple for him. The covered porches allowed him to sit in comfort if the weather was too warm. The two king bed rooms were so comfortable and spacious. The kids room was perfect. There was not one thing the house did not have that we could have needed. We have vacationed on St George on and off for 30 years and Black Skimmer felt like home. Will absolutely be booking every year.
