Top-notch rental!

We've only rented houses 3 times, but this was BY FAR the best experience! This beautifully renovated historic home, along with its gardens, is gorgeous and is perfectly located within short walking distance to shops and restaurants. The back deck overlooking the water and marsh was our favorite spot to relax, but there are two other porches that are great to sit on with a cup of morning coffee. There are plenty of chairs and rockers, along with a picnic table, on the back deck. Many thoughtful touches were provided for our stay: - Lots of paper plates/cups/utensils, if you don't want to wash dishes - Selection of Keurig K-cups - Cold soft drinks in the refrigerator - Magnification mirror in the bathroom - GOOD hair dryers in the bathrooms, not the ones you see in many hotels that barely blow out any air My hubby and I are already talking about when we can return to the OBX. We'd definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing spot with great views, this is the place. You will not be disappointed. The host welcomes you from the time you book and ensures you have everything you need during your stay. It is located within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. Perfect location and house

If we could give 10 stars we would. Check in with Hugh was very easy and he responded to questions immediately. The house is equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible with daily toiletries supplied as well as necessities in the kitchen which is very helpful when only staying a short time. We were treated to waters in the fridge, coffee, pastries and wine upon our arrival. You are walking distance to the town (1-2 mins), for ice cream, shopping, tours, etc. We highly recommend the Manteo walking tour with the Sheriff and visiting the dunes for hang gliding. Coming back each night to the house to have dinner and wine on the patio while enjoying the view from the dock was very relaxing. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful and peaceful waterfront getaway

We loved our stay and highly recommend! The house and gardens are meticulously maintained with very thoughtful amenities (flowers, plenty of coffee, and a welcome bottle of wine). Beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the water and easy walking distance from restaurants and shops in town. Thanks so much, we will definitely be back!

Wonderful location and house!

This house was perfect for a family get away. Everything was lovely and perfect for a rental. All you could possibly need is there waiting for you. Towels are fluffy, beds are comfy, temperature control is easy and accurate. Views are top notch, short walk to town and close drive to all of the things to enjoy. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing house to stay in for a trip to the OBX.

The perfect getaway!

This is our first time staying in Manteo and this house is amazing! The location was perfect and so quiet. We loved fishing off the dock! We had one whole side of the house to ourselves and our guests stayed on the other side. We loved this home and hope to visit it again very soon!

Amazing getaway!

My family and I stayed here for a week in August 2021. The house was spotless (certainly cleaner than my own home on any given day) and fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. Hugh, the host, was super responsive and helpful with questions. The welcome pastries and other goodies were such a nice touch. The location couldn't have been better. Easy access to pretty much anywhere in OBX, but quiet and off-the-beaten path enough to be peaceful and relaxing. It was a wonderful place to call "home" for the week.

Wonderful house and wonderful time. Very clean and well provided. Very generous host who provided baked goods, wine, coffee, light beverages. A little info about TV remotes and availability of recycling would be helpful. Listing info on dock and kayak usage was not clear. Bike locks would be helpful. Highly recommend this house

Immaculate, Comfortable and Quaint

The hospitality and cleanliness of this home put us immediately at ease. The home’s location and views from every window are so charming that we didn’t mind the chilly weather in early spring. We’ll definitely be back. This was one of our best VRBO experiences to date.

Beautiful Historic Home

This vacation home is wonderful. We arrived to classical music playing throughout the house and wine waiting for us in the kitchen. There was breakfast food, coffee , and a refrigerator full of water, coffee creamer, etc. The caretaker really goes above and beyond. The house was extremely clean with plenty of super soft towels. The home is also spacious for a family. The location is within walking distance of local shops and restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this beautiful historic home.

Amazing location, beautiful property

Perfect location in downtown Manteo, walking distance to the shops, restaurants, pier. Property is spacious, and well cared for. Highly recommended. Added niceties including fresh coffee, breakfast items, bottled water etc. were a real perk. I look forward to returning.

Best Place to Stay in Manteo

This was perfect for my wife and I and our family. The location is ideal and nicely set on the sound. The home was very clean and the host was very helpful to offer his opinion on local restaurants and they even had a nice snack waiting on us when we arrived.

Great home, great owner

My friends and I had a phenomenal time at this beautiful property. The house location is perfect -- right on the water and also adjacent to downtown Manteo. So it's an easy walk to restaurants and cafes. The house itself is extremely charming, clean, and spacious. The owner of the property was also extremely helpful and attentive throughout our stay. I strongly recommend.

Terrific House

We had such a nice time at this house for many reasons. First, the location is exceptions, where you are steps from the downtown area where you can find food, activities and nice walking areas. Second, being on the water is a huge advantage if you rent a small fishing boat, kayaking, etc. and Third, the house was in outstanding condition with anything and everything you could want for amenities. We would 100% recommend this home.

Paradise!

My family are frequent renters in the VRBO world across the US, and this house was by FAR the best we have experienced. From the location, to the charm of the history of the house, the layout, the yard ETC. The yard and house are just to die for and my two teenage girls all but cried when we had to leave and asked if it was too late to turn around once we arrived back in PA. We were blessed with perfect weather and lived to sit out on the dock to watch the sunrise and sunset daily. The house is spotless and immaculate (and I am very picky) with not a spec of dirt to be found. It was beyond well stocked with anything you could possibly need, so comfortable, and the owner is a complete gem. My husband unfortunately set off the smoke alarms cooking dinner and Hugh ran right over on a Friday night to help turn off the alarms (I was mortified). Honestly, absolutely perfect is the only way to describe this rental!!

Perfection

What a beautiful home and fantastic location. The hosts went above and beyond and decorated the house with flowers and had a fridge filled with water and had baked goods for us when we arrived. The amenities were fantastic. I absolutely loved the history of the home. I was extremely sad to leave. We are frequent travelers and this was by far one of my favorite homes. Thank you for being incredible hosts, we are extremely grateful.
