Best House on the OBX

My wife grew up on the outerbanks and I used to live there myself. We have since moved away but come back twice a year to visit her parents. We have stayed in quite a few rental places on the outerbanks in the past 20years and I have to say, in comparison to other places we have stayed, this was the hands down absolute best OBX rental we have ever stayed in. The place was exceptionally clean and the kitchen was totally redone. The views of Nags Head pier are amazing, especially is you like to surf. There's nothing wrong with this property and you will be happy. Hope others get to enjoy it. We will be back!

Great house, mediocre management

Overall, we thought the house was great, but had some frustrations with the management company.The house was spacious and wonderful for a large family reunion with multiple rooms with their own bathrooms, and good sized beds for a comfortable stay. Having our own pool and being able to walk right onto the beach was very nice with little kids. The pool was nicely maintained.The volleyball court was in poor condition to the point that we stopped playing on it.Unfortunately, we found the management company to be a large company with less care for individual properties and experiences. While there was a lot of automated communication for contract-signing and check-in, individual communication to address specific questions or issues was a bit slower and less helpful. They were cheap in the products & services provided at the house (e.g. 1 bathing towel per person, 1 paper towel roll left in kitchen). There were several contradictions in what was stated in listing or contract and what they actually provide for this property. For example, the rental agreement stated, check-in time of 4pm - 6pm (with latter time seeming late to charge a full day stay) but indicated that earlier check-in could be requested for a fee. I reached out to the company to ask about paying for earlier check-in. I did not hear back for over a week. I was then told that this property couldn't accommodate earlier check-in. While this seems a small frustration, it exemplifies our mediocre interactions.

The floor plan was great for large families. The kitchen needs to be upgraded appliance-wise; another oven would be a huge benefit in a house this size. I just feel it could have been a bit cleaner, specifically the air returns

Overall lovely stay

The Lazy Lizard was an overall lovely stay for our family (17 people). The location was central to anything needed, the beach access was perfect, and you can’t beat a fire pit. There is some room for improvement in general cleanliness (rug stains, etc.), modernization (out of date furnitures in all bedrooms make it feel dated, and communication with the agency was poor. The only true downside was for those who want to rest while others ‘play’ as the noise travels from the game room area all the way to the 3rd floor.

Also, with the pool and right on the ocean you don't ever really need to leave! Great house and location!

Property manager was responsive to any questions we had while on the trip to make sure our stay was great. Property was great and as advertised. Heated pool, hot tub, direct beach access. Plus the house was walkable to multiple bars, restaurants, and groceries which made the weekend even better. Property was actually ready ahead of schedule but due to a tech issue we couldn't get in until right at scheduled check-in time. All in all next time we're back in OBX we'd definitely look at coming back!

Lovely quiet beach home

First time at the OBX, family of 6 adults. Loved this place, amazing location. Pool was way too cold to use but hot tub was lovely and warm ❤️ Our tiny pups were in heaven, lots of beautiful beach walks and long runs ( 5k every morning) on the pavement that runs along the front of the house. There were a couple of issues (house keeping) but they were resolved almost immediately with instant communication with the rental company. Super friendly town, we shall be back 😍

Over all the home was suitable. The home was under contract to close so it looked as if the previous owner cleaned out the kitchen. We had to make several purchases in order to cook and most of the pots and pans were unusable. And there were roaches in many locations of the home which was kind of a cleanliness concern. The pool was very nice and the hot tub was clean. Hot tub jets do not operate either. This home needs a complete overhaul. Thanks for letting us enjoy this homes location and space.

We took a last minute trip and beach realty worked with us and were awesome. The house is huge. It is decorated kind of spanish. I'm sure it is hard to clean a house that big. I've been in cleaner houses. The kitchen cabinets are a bit outdated and there wasn't alot of cookware for a house that big.There were mushrooms growing from the corner in the bedroom I stayed in. The last few days we did see alot of bugs and some cockroaches. Luckily it didn't bother us much as most of our time was spent outdoors.I want to thank beach realty and the owners for booking with us last minute. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed in Nags Head many times, but never in such a large/expensive house. I saw after we had signed our lease that the price to rent had been reduced, and that is definitely appropriate. It is just not nice enough to be considered "luxury" accommodations.The couched are old and have cigarette burns in the cushions. The bedspreads are cheap, old and polyester.The wine glasses are all plastic.There is mildew stains in the master bath shower. Chipping old paint throughout.I requested that the hot tub and pool be cleaned on wednesday. I called again on thursday. No one came even on friday. We have a hot tub and pool at home and both are cleaned more than once a week...especially if there will be an additional influx of guests enjoying the water. Lots of steps to consider if there are elderly members of your group.Path to the beach would be nice, sand gets really hot.The Lucky 12 bar across the street is great!

Reviewer Comments: House needs some repairs.ledges on windows are broken seam tape falling from ceiling, kitchen could have some more bowls and better pans and some measuring cups to cook with and a better stove burners are shot and ice maker near wet bar does not work,bath towels seen better days, ceiling fan very dirty in main living room,top level of house is cool but bottom 2 levels are very warm and can not open the windows for airflow on those levels and some rooms did not have ceiling fans so very warm to try to sleep. carpet needs replace in master room downstairs it smells very musty. so with a few minor upgrades a nice place to stay at. need to watch your stuff we had an 800 rc car stolen from the car port which put a sad time in our vacation. Someday that person will pay for stealing! Nice girls at the reality office!!!!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Advertising looked good but not so well maintained. House, pool and hot tub dirty on arrival. Had to call office to get basic info. House full of bugs on arrival, we had to clean.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: To start with, we paid $500.00usd for the pool to be heated and it was not even clean or the filter system was not even working when we arrived. We could tell that the pool had been serviced that day, as there was 2 chlorine tablets and the pool was shocked, that is the extent of the pool being serviced upon our arrival. The switch for the heater was not even on and once it was turned on, the read out on the heater showed call fro service. We called and emailed to report that and a few other issues and they said they were sending someone and no one ever came to our house to look into the issues. There sand all over every deck and pool area, as well as inside on the ground floor(we understand about the storm the prior week).When I called about the heated pool, they did not even realize that we had paid the $500.00usd for the heated pool. We loved the house last time we stayed and this time, not so much.

The Lazy Lizard was tired.......

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were there at the very end of the season. Cleaning was average at best, really in need of a thorough spring clean. The house was showing quite a bit of wear and tear, but again, it was end of season. My biggest disappointment was the pool. I had contacted the rental company a week prior to arrival time to remind them we had paid to have pool heated, and would they please follow up with that, as a heated pool was a big thing for us. We got there and the pool was 60 degrees. They sent pool guy out Sun am, but it was not til late in the day Sunday that it was warm enough to use. Then after it was serviced mid week, the heater stopped working and we needed maintenance again. maintenance was very responsive, but we were 2 days out of 7 without the pool.
