Gardiner is the ideal place for exploring Yellowstone, and we think Tortilla Flats is the ideal place to stay while doing that! We speak from the perspective of two people from Maine, in our late 70s, staying for a week. We were thrilled with the accommodations the cabin offers as well as the proximity to the national park. Marie is a gem--we've never before encountered a more welcoming, generous, helpful host. She and Jim live next door, so if you need them, there they are! Now we'll list some specific reasons we were delighted with this lodging and why we would return in a heartbeat: we were greeted outside by a riot of flowers and secure private parking. Upstairs there is a deck on the front (west side) and inside has a cozy mountain vibe. The cabin was immaculate. Marie leaves you a delicious coffee cake--so nice after a long journey! There's a king bed and a back deck overlooking the Yellowstone River, which you can hear rushing at night. There is a good reading lamp on EACH side of the bed! The kitchen is SO well equipped, and there is a gas stove and oven, which we love! No beat-up pots and pans like you'd find elsewhere. They provide bear spray! There was a basket of packaged snacks like popcorn and Doritos! A large cooler and freezer packs for your trips into the Park, and big fluffy towels to take if you go to the Hot Springs up the road! Double sinks in the bathroom, tissue cubes next to the bed and in different spots around the house. GREAT TV! "Home" for a week!
