We did not enjoy our stay and in fact, changed our flights and went home 3 days early. There was no AC, which we knew, but the fans hardly worked or made a loud/annoying sound so therefore we were hot. We did not feel safe enough to leave our children's windows open at night due to the beach path inches from the house with many frequented strangers walking by at all hours. Add to that the homeless man in the backyard bushes tripping on drugs (I get that it's on the beach and unavoidable), but all led to the fact that the windows don't lock and we didn't want to leave them open at night anyway with kids. This home was unsafe in our opinion and should get the windows replaced with locks.
There were dozens of dead and alive cockroaches inside the house. When we arrived, we disposed of about 6 dead cockroaches and moved on realizing we were in the tropics, but as the days progressed, it got disgusting. One huge cockroach flew at my face when I opened the kitchen cabinet. On our 2nd day there (we only stayed 2.5 days although had booked it for 6 nights), one of the bedrooms smelled like a dead animal. Probably a rat as there are rat traps all around the inside and outside of the house. If you have a toddler, it is not safe with the traps. There were tons of ants in the bathrooms, showers, kitchen at all times. The pots and pans are horrible and not even worth it trying to cook anything. The knives were also horrible and I struggled to even cut a mango. Again, not worth it to try to use the kitchen beyond the refrigerator and dishes.
Although we regret booking this home and did not have a good experience, the location is fantastic and the beach was beautiful. There needs to be many safety updates as well as fan and kitchen supply updates. Not worth it to book a trip to Hawaii and then want to go home early :(
