This is the very interesting eclectic home of a Gourmet Cook, well known talented paint and ink artist, photographer and nature devotee. An older home, with I assume an interesting history, among many other similar homes, on a 500 acre lake, in the NC hills. Setting is forested, lots of typical for the area flora, hard wood trees, Ivys, and other NC plants, on the gentle slopes of a hill leading to the dock and lake. The home, has an amazing art, every wall similar trip to a local art museum, as well as a rich broad scoped book collection. Modern and older mystery books, are collected along with a international cook books, international and local travel books and photography collections. In addition there are objects de art collected from world travel, as well as many local crafts that enhance the interior and porch areas of the house. The house is older, not ancient, and for it's age is remarkably clean. It appears that there have been some skillful constructed additions, fitting very well into the ambience of the setting. Well suited for groups 4-8 adults , with children, as there is addition sleeping quarters above the boat house on the lake, a easy stepped walk 50 yard away from the main house. The lake is interesting, large enough for skiing and wakeboarding, but as with many smallish lakes compliance with agreed rules of the road are required for safety. The house for an additional reasonable cost includes a not new but cetrtainly serviceable and fun pontoon boat. Travel for end-to-end of the lake is a leisurely 25 minutes, there is an island to along the way to explore and tie up to. Access to the house is via a typical for the area winding road, that changes into a well maintained gravel road.
Outdoor eating options are very well supported, and post evening meals games and discussions are encouraged bu=y the easy setting.
Overall a very interesting experience, in a great setting, this is an older lake house that clearly has been well maintain, with an impressively supplied kitchen and remarkably lovingly enhanced by the owners experiences, humor and talent. Future road trips through North Carolina will hopefully include a stay at " Billy's Camp" as we have only scratched the surface of the many interesting aspects of this home.
From practica aspect, the owner is very responsive to questions and solutions, and there are many immediate neighbors that are integrated in helping what clearly is a tight collection of friends.
