This newly built true post and beam Barn known as The Eagles Nest is an exceptional testament to Maine’s “the way life should be”. The Barn is located on a small peninsula on a bay that opens up to the Atlantic Ocean.
Eagles often perch and fish from the trees that are directly in front of the barn.
It shares the location with another home that is occupied by the owners, yet it has it’s own private driveway, entrance, seating and view.
Wake up to a stunning sunrise or enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage as the sun sets while seated on your own private covered porch with a fire pit. After the sun sets, walk down a set of steps and luxuriate in the hot tub as you watch the moon and the stars above.
Located next to a working lobster dock, you will experience the lobster industry up close. You will see the lobster boats at work as they fish right off of the peninsula. Binoculars are provided so you can watch lobstermen and women raise up their traps, measure lobsters and throw what is not legal to fish back into the water. If you choose to do so, there are two kayaks available so you can enjoy the bay from up close. Hug the shore and see the local fish in the water and observe eagles in their nest. Within a short driving distance from the Barn is another working lobster dock with an extensive menu and gift store. You can sit on their outdoor deck and enjoy fresh catch from our seas.
If you are a lover of the outdoors, the owners have put together an extensive list of local activities and information about Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park, both on the Island and locally on Schoodic Peninsula only 35 minutes away. There is also a private preserve across the bay which offers incredible hiking trails through the woods, out to the bay or on to the ocean. The list will also point you to local restaurants and activities.
When you return from your daily adventures you can sleep in the king size bedroom with it’s own adjustable bed, television and fireplace. A second bunk room is available with individual lights and outlets for each of the four beds. Or, just relax downstairs on reclining sofas and watch your favorite show. When the weather gets cold turn on the radiant floor heat and use the cozy blankets provided.
Come and enjoy Maine in the Barn at Eagles Nest. You will always want to return to life as it should be.
