As former Pinetop residents, we sold our family home when we were relocated but wanted to maintain a piece of the mountain as a second home. We discovered this little gem shortly before we moved in 2002 and have been expanding and updating the property ever since. Initially we used the property as a long term rental. After returning back to Arizona five years later, we then decided we wanted to enjoy the cabin also and occasionally reserve a weekend for ourselves to escape the Arizona desert heat and to enjoy the best of the year October fishing.. We added a master bathroom with dual vanities and two walk in closets for both bedrooms. Total added square footage added was about 200 square feet. We are continually updating the home. In 2014 updates include new stone on the chimney and wainscot exterior, new king bed in the master, décor corbels on the exterior, and a new gas BBQ grill. For 2015, new exterior paint and added interior décor. In 2016 we added Trane central air conditioning and the best available roll-a-way European bed for extra guest. For 2017 we have added upgraded slate gray kitchen appliances. For 2018, a new detached garage was added with covered breezeway to enhance winter ski access. The former garage was converted into a game room with shuffleboard and an electric fireplace. In the Summer of 2020, we updated the great room furniture with a new top grain leather couch and chair. For 2022, the bathroom vanities have been upgraded with natural stone and new Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring installed in all areas except for the bedrooms. In 2024 new carpet was installed in the bedrooms. We enjoy sharing this property with our family and guests as we reach our goal, which is to enjoy this as our summer retirement home.

This site built home sits on a special lot with Blue spruce and Ponderosa Pines as well as a few Quaking Aspen. Silver Leaf Maple trees add a beautiful texture as the breeze stirs the leaves. Blue spruce and Limber pines are additional varieties you'll find on the property as well as indigenous wild rose plants. We have added Maple trees and a few shrubs to enhance the mountain feel provide a true escape from the desert. The cottage sits far back on the lot which allows an expansive front yard full of massive trees inviting the mountain wildlife such as squirrels and blue jays to visit regularly. Bicycles and pedestrians outnumber cars on the gently rolling street capped off with cul de sacs on both ends. It's a terrific street for a quick bike ride or an evening stroll. The circular drive allows easy access in winter conditions for all vehicles. The location is the absolute best with the town of Pinetop a couple of minutes away as well as the closest area to skiing and all the National Forest wonders to explore. Hondah casino is just 2 miles away. There are three golf courses within a stone's throw, Pinetop Lakes, Pinetop Country Club, and White Mountain Country Club. The latter two are private courses. As a former full time resident, this neighborhood is one of the best and was an easy choice to select as a second home.

Front windows allow for an amazing drafty breeze in the great room. When opened with the screened storm door, the summer mountain breeze is cool and incredible. On those few warm summer days, central air conditioning will keep you comfortable. Most cabins in Pinetop do not have A/C so this is unique to the area. The natural rock fireplace with masonry construction is rare. The floor plan allows for maximum usage of space and feels much larger than it is. The game room is perfect for friendly shuffle board competition or relaxing and reading on one of the Lazy-boy recliners. This well lite room has four windows allowing lots of light and mountain air cross ventilation. In the evening, turn on the electric fireplace and soak in that mountain ambiance. If you get chilly, the fireplace has a two stage heater as well. The cottage is tastefully decorated with most furnishings new or updated continuously. Words like comfortable and quaint are overused but really do describe the feeling here. The cottage is perfect for relaxing outside shaded by huge pines. Relax on the deck or the tile patio to enjoy the mountain air and the trees. For those days and evenings in June where the temperature gets a little warm, there is central air conditioning to cool down and ensure a great nights sleep.
The detached garage with breezeway access to the the new recreation room is perfect for those ski getaways with plenty of space for ski gear and a shuffleboard table to entertain the group for hours by the new electric fireplace. Perfect for couples, retirees, and small families. The Pinetop-Lakes recreation center AS OF 01/01/2021, THE HOA HAS RAISED RENTAL GUEST RATES TO THE REC CENTER. CHECK WITH OWNERS AS THE COST HAS RISEN SIGNIFICANTLY. At this time we would suggest alternate activities that exclude the recreation facilities. Pinetop Lakes golf course is in the neighborhood and is just a stones throw away.
