Once home to one of Springfield’s most prominent families, this grand estate on the national Historic Register is opening its doors to travelers seeking elegance, charm, and comfort in a one-of-a-kind stay in the heart of downtown Springfield. Beautiful 12' ceilings, hand-crafted plaster work, original door hardware, gas lights converted to electric, detailed custom door casing and crown molding, hand-nailed wood floors, the list of interior and exterior historic details goes on. Multiple bedrooms, unique bathrooms, multiple living areas, great setup for large groups and families.

The host was very welcoming. Nice historic home. As expected with historic homes there were a few quirks but very nice overall. Lots of room for our kids and grandkids to come and visit us during our stay. We would gladly rent this home again haagain

This is my first VRBO experience and the host knocked it out of the park. Host helped with all my first time questions and was very informative of the property telling us about all the historic facts dating back to the 1800’s. The host when above and beyond to ensure our stay was 5 stars. Highly recommend them if you want to enjoy the downtown area of Springfield.

This was an outstanding building. Perfect for the occasion! Could not have asked for a better atmosphere and location. It is old, and you have to expect the charm and challenges of this age home. It was PERFECT!

Extremely Disappointing — Property Not as AdvertisedI’m leaving this review to help future guests make an informed decision. Unfortunately, this property was nothing like the listing photos. The pictures are deceptive, and the home appears to be in the middle of a remodel rather than a finished, guest-ready rental.The home was only partially furnished, with several basic items missing. What was listed as a “bed” turned out to be an air mattress, which is not acceptable for a rental property.Cleanliness was also a major issue. There were visible insects inside the home, and there were clear signs of rodents in the attic, which made the stay uncomfortable. The house was generally dirty and felt poorly maintained.Several essential amenities were non-functional. One shower didn’t work, and there were malfunctioning toilets. These are basic necessities, and their condition made the stay even more difficult.Overall, the property is in a noticeable state of disrepair and simply does not match the condition represented online. In my opinion, it should not be listed on this platform until the owners complete the remodeling and ensure it’s clean, furnished, and fully functional.
