Location, Location, Location
Gulf Dreamin' in Holiday Isle is in a dream location. A short drive (3 miles) or better yet an even shorter boat ride (1/2 mile) or water taxi ride from the Destin Harbor Walk. The Harbor Walk offers many dining, drinking, entertainment, and shopping options. Gulf Dreamin' is also a short walk or bike ride to private Gulf beaches with legendary Destin sugar white sand, or the beaches of the Destin Inlet. Under 1.5 miles by boat to Crab Island (actually a sandbar), the largest on the water cocktail party on the planet. Deep water dock on the Destin Harbor provides flat calm serenity at the dock with access to the Gulf through the Destin Inlet in minutes.
Beaches
The sugar white sand of the Destin Gulf beaches is a short walk or bike ride away (4/10s mile). This private beach, accessible by Holiday Isle key card is uncrowded, huge, and dominated by multi-million dollar residences. There is a bike rack at the entrance to the the private beach but limited or no golf cart parking.
Just a short boat ride, golf cart ride, drive, or bike ride away (7/10th mile) is Norriego Point, one of Destin’s most beloved spots. Here there is parking for cars, golf carts, and bikes. This public beach and peninsula features crystal clear waters, shallow tide pools, and gentle waves, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or spotting marine life like dolphins, sea turtles, and hermit crabs. Walk, bike, or drive, even better, you can reach in minutes from the dock with a SUP, kayak, or boat.
Harbor Walk
The Harbor Walk area is the epicenter of fun after the Sun and Destin. The 3/4 mile boardwalk offers more than 20 restaurants, a very walkable cluster. Several are quite large, offer nightly live entertainment, and a party atmosphere. Others a more refined (for the beach) and quiet dining experience. Multiple boat and jet ski rental operations are located in the Harbor Walk area. The challenge with the Harbor Walk in Summer is parking, but that's no problem at all when you access it by water. A kayak, skiff, your boat, a rented boat, or water taxi gets you to the free public docks, which are, amazingly, not heavily utilized.
The Townhome
Four bedrooms, multiple decks, beautiful canal view, even a peek-a-boo view of the Gulf. The home comfortably sleeps 10. A private 1st floor apartment with full second kitchen adds possibilities for family and friends.
Outdoor Living
The outdoor living featured at Gulf Dreamin is unsurpassed. Four deck levels, an array of seating, and the carefully thought out all weather plan provide for multiple options. The Pollywood outdoor furniture is stylish white, cool to the touch in the heat of the midday sun.
The dock level offer a cocktail grouping with comfortable Adirondack chairs.
The 1st floor deck off the separate apartment offers a covered, out of the sun deck area, with underdeck drainage system for comfortable bar seating out of the weather for the few minutes it ever rains in Destin. A television on this deck lets you watch your choice and be outside overlooking the canal.
The second floor deck area off the main living area offers both a semi-interior area and an outdoor area. The semi-interior area is covered, has walls and windows, and is quite protected from the weather. It features a bar, and has two televisions, ensuring you never miss a minute of your favorite game. The outdoor portion of the second floor deck offer a bar height (for better view) dining table and chairs to catch the sun, and enjoy the beautiful days.
The crown jewel of the outdoor living experience is the covered deck off the master bedroom. Accessible only from the master, this beautiful, large, private space, with table and chairs faces southeast, warms in the morning sunrise, and stays cool in the afternoon with the Sun setting on the other side of the house. The perfect place for your morning coffee or your evening glass of wine.
Then there are the toys. 3 kayaks. 2 SUP boards. Paddles and life vests. A giant connect 4 board. The boat lift has 2 sets of bunks and can accommodate a 28' + or - boat, and two jet skis easily.
Inside Living
Inside Gulf Dreamin is almost as good as the outside:) Let's start with the kitchens. Yes, that's right, kitchens, plural, two complete kitchens! The separate 1st floor apartment has a full kitchen with full size range and refrigerator. The appliances are relatively new and well maintained, but what if one goes out and repairs are a day or two away. No problem, your stay is not ruined, redundant kitchens are a luxury not seen in townhomes this size or at this price point.
The 3rd floor features the large master bedroom with king bed, and you won't believe the master walk in closet, you'll be jealous you don't have one like this at home. The private deck, with the best view, makes this luxurious space fit for the couple that is paying the for the vacation:) Also up is the second master, with king bed, a private bath, and a really nice walk in closet.
The 2nd floor features the primary kitchen, dining, and living areas, along with the bunk bed room, and a half bath. The living room television is huge. Just outside the covered all weather portion of the 2nd floor deck has 2 more televisions. Watch multiple games, catch all the action.
The 1st floor houses the second kitchen, a living area with pull out bed in the couch, a full bath, and a bedroom with a Queen bed. This area is separate from the main residence, accessed from the outside, offers substantial privacy, but is not rented separately.
The Dock
The slip is approximately 15'*35' The lift has two sets of bunks, one set for a boat approximately 8' - 9' wide. The other fairly narrow, and appropriate for a small boat or jet ski. The depth is approximately 4' but of course that varies with the tide, siltation, and other factors. The lift will support a maximum of 10,000 lbs., remember your boat weighs a fair bit more when filled with water and gasoline. After you make your reservation it will be necessary to speak with the property manager to ensure you understand the details and challenges in connection with use of the dock facilities. Per HOA rules, trailers may not be stored in the driveway or on the property. For trailer storage you may call Gilligans Boatyard & Trailer Storage at 850-865-2193 or D&J Dry Storage at 850-837-5055. Either is approximately $40/day.
