The Space:
Take your pick of five beautiful decks at this gorgeous, four-bedroom home across the street from the beach, where you'll enjoy views of the neighboring marsh, incredible sunsets, and even the Morris Island Lighthouse. This renovated space features hardwood floors and European antiques throughout, a rooftop deck with partial views of the Atlantic Ocean, a covered play area under the house, and wonderful access to the beach and a tidal hard-bottom creek just off the backyard.

This second-row home sits just a few steps from the soft sand of Folly Beach. You'll be mere minutes from all sorts of island activities, including fishing, surfing, biking, and kayaking, and three miles east of the Folly Beach Pier and the many shops and restaurants that line Center Street. Downtown Charleston is 14 miles north, where you can explore fascinating history and dine at some of the most acclaimed restaurants in America.

This house is fantastic and our stay was perfect. We are a family of five snd we had ample space. The kitchen is well stocked and user friendly. The ice maker on the fridge did not work but there were ice trays. We just bought ice at the local grocery. The house was clean and comfortable. Don’t forget to sit on the top deck and star gaze!It said there were no beach chairs, wagon etc but there were this items and more at the house. You do need beach towels. The house is less than a city block distance from the house, so walking back and forth to the beach for snacks or forgotten items is easy. Our kids are older so we were able to just leave for the beach and they came down on their own time. The water was perfect and we had a lovely time swimming at high or low tide. Walks on the beach are a must and you can take a long walk in either direction. The back of the house is all marsh and water ways so it’s very private. During high tide you can kayak or paddle board in the water ways. At low tide you can see crabs and oyster beds. On the end of the island is a park which allows you access to see the lighthouse. We spent one evening in Charleston. Don’t miss out on the Haunted Carriage Ride!

Great place....fantastic

Overall great. One proble was the AC. It stopped working while we were gone visiting Savanah. When we got home at 9 pm the house was 80 degrees. I texted 3 numbers and waited on the phone for 20 minutes before I was able to voice my concerns about the AC. The lady on the phone said there was nothing she could do until the next day. So we sweated the night out. By the morning the house did cool down to 75. We used fans. The next day a really nice man came and saw there was an issue with the condensation in the tubes and air filters were clogged. He changed them, but the house never did get as cool as it did before Wednesday. So Thursday & Friday, were bareable, but is was not cool like Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise the house was great. Super location. You do have to buy or rent your own beach stuff. The house does not have functional beach gear. There are surf boards and kayaks to use.There are no beach towls to use either. Strange, but not a real issue. The house does not have a grittle for pancakes and french toast. FYIThe house is located on the far north end of Folly beach where it is quiet. It takes about 15 minutes to get off the island. So traveling to Charleston is about a 40 min jaunt. FYI.Overall, we loved this place. It worked for our family of 8. We made some great memories that will be impressed into our lives forever. We will have fond memories of this family trip...largely due to this house.

Location is a win, house is not

Belle Mare’s location is awesome with a 2-3 minute walk to the beach and marsh views. However, the home itself is worn out and needs some attention from the owners. The mattresses and one of the couches are extremely uncomfortable due to overuse. I would stay in Folly Beach again but not at this home.Additionally, Vacasa’s policy of providing a single kitchen towel is unreasonable. Beach towels should be provided as well.

Breezy Fun with beautiful views

This lovely home on Folly has views of the ocean and marsh. We were able to kayak in canal off backyard, walk to Morris lighthouse and enjoy beach with plenty of space. Property manager was very attentive. Lots of wildlife viewed and fun had by all!

Great for a Bachelorette

This was a great place to stay for our group of 9! We were here for a bachelorette party (Charleston and the Beach), and it was perfect for accommodating our group. We had planned to do a beach day for one of our days in Folly, but the weather was so terrible we ended up having to stay in; but the place was so spacious we were able to find things to do around the house and relax. They provided all that you needed to make a home cooked meal. I will say that the house is a bit off the beaten path when it comes to night life in Folly, but that's not a problem because it was nice and quiet each night. I would absolutely stay again if I had a large group like this coming to stay at Folly!

Great Stay

Overall it was a great stay, the property is pretty big, clean and we were all comfortable. Really close to the public beach access and my family loved fishing off the deck at the back of the yard.

Nice Easygoing Area

Very fair priced house and easy access to beach. This part of Folly has less people and is a bit more easy going.

Lovely Home + Location

The house was clean, and the location was lovely. The view of the marsh from the back porch was stunning, especially during sunset. The walk to the beach was super easy. We will be back!

Good location, great view…few minor things

We enjoyed our time at Folly Beach. PROS for the house: great location across from beach, 3 full bathrooms, awesome sunsets over the marsh, outdoor shower with hot water, rooftop lookout was fun. CONS: constant water in front yard; AC seemed to struggle to keep house cool; kitchen is small; laundry doors are hard to get clothes out of dryer; was buggy outside on the marsh; two beds were missing some linens but they were quick to respond and bring them. We had adults and teens and overall had a good experience.

Fun in the Sun

The 4 bedrooms were great. Enough room for everyone. Love the marsh view in the back, and the ocean across the street. Not a complete ocean view, but just a couple houses down, and had access to great beach. Best of both worlds.

The property is very nice and was enjoyed by all. However, there are some items that need repair. The gas grill downstairs does not work properly and does not have control over the amount of gas being supplied. The front door handle and lock are in bad need of replacement. The queen mattress in the middle room is very poor and needs replacing. Thank you.

Sunset heaven

The house was clean and in a great location! From the front door you can see the ocean and the marsh is in the backyard! My only complaints would be that the beds either need to be flipped or replaced, the body sized holes weren’t very comfy! Also some of the boards on the front stairs and the back patio seemed a little soft to step on.

Beautiful Home

Beautiful home. Lots of space for 10 people. Great backyard and plenty of chairs on decks. I will definitely stay in this home again.

Wonderful house

The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The ramp was extra bonus for getting up the steps. Beautiful and peaceful with front row seat to sunsets.

Fabulous Stay!

Our family loved every second at Belle Mare! This is our 8th year at Folly and our best stay yet! The location was perfect. The house was beautiful and clean. All of the things important to a family with kids were there… clean rooms with plenty of space to spread out, a perfect outdoor shower - a MUST for us, beautiful porch areas to hang out including the underneath of the house, quick beach access. We text with the staff about a few things and they were very responsive and showed up promptly. As a busy mom, there is only one thing I really missed - Tupperware food containers for fridge storage and plastic ware for the kids. All of the glassware and dishware is beautiful, but really need some plastics for food storage and kid use. Again, loved every second and we will be back!

Peaceful and Relaxing

What a great place. Everything was as described on the website. The back of the property was peaceful and had a gorgeous view with an amazing sunset. The space was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The only thing to keep in mind at this location is that during high tide there is no beach. So no beach walks at sunset for us. It wasn’t a problem but if you want to be on the beach at a specific time you need to check tidal times. We would definitely go back to this place.

Pretty and clean

Positive feedback first - This place was immaculate and decorated with pretty, updated furniture and accessories. The front and back decks were so nice to relax on to either enjoy the breeze and sun out front or the marsh, shade, and sunsets out back. Negative- The description on the place indicated there were kayaks and a canoe with life jackets that we could use. And there was one canoe and two kayaks. However, I noticed immediately there were no paddles or life jackets to be found. There was a closet under the house, but the key provided did not work on that door. I called Vacasa and asked about it- they said they called the homeowner and would let me know, but they never got back to me. Also, the front door lock is horrible. The key just spins and spins and will finally lock the door after probably 10 to 15 tries. This was so annoying ever time we left the house. And this is such an easy fix. Otherwise, we did enjoy the house and the location.
