Celebrate each vacation day in this spacious one‑back home just yards from the ocean access. Carolina Beach Retreat offers 3,300 square feet of comfort, tranquility, and thoughtful coastal décor. The top level features a great room with cathedral ceilings, a spacious dining area, a breakfast bar, and a generously equipped kitchen.

Stay connected anywhere on the property with the brand‑new mesh Wi‑Fi system, which provides strong, reliable coverage all the way out to the pool area—perfect for streaming music, movies, or remote work by the water. Every TV in the home is a Smart TV, giving you easy access to all your favorite entertainment apps.

Relax privately in your backyard pool and six‑person hot tub, or find your favorite spot on the 2,200 square feet of furnished decks. Enjoy a game of pool in the first‑floor recreation room or retire to one of the bedrooms uniquely furnished with local flavor. Four bedrooms have deck access, including three primaries.
Guests also have access to a junior Olympic–size swimming pool at the nearby rental office—an ideal place to unwind or pass the time while you wait for check‑in.

Great Choice

We typically stay oceanfront, but pickins were slim this year. We found Carolina Beach Retreat and it checked off ALL of our boxes, except for being oceanfront. Has 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators, pool and many other options. Even though it is semi-oceanfront it still has an awesome view of the ocean. Would stay here again for sure!

Exactly as described

Excellent location, great accommodations, the kitchen has numerous utensils and cooking accoutrements: crock pot, panini press, etc. One con: the bunk beds are definitely for kids only, not for grown ups.

Great location!!!

We loved the location of this property!!! Its close to Avon fishing pier, famous restaurants, Food lion. Rooms were spacious especially the master bedroom on the 3rd floor. It was clean and nicely maintained. Only issue we had was the water clogging in 2 baths and when reported we didn’t get the right support back on time so that was very disappointing.

Carolina Beach Retreat Avon Beach

The desgin was awesome for large families. The 2 refrigerators and dishwashers were perfect and came in handy. Best location ever! But alot of safety issues and cleanliness was not there. If the owners fix these issues, get yard and house fix including new carpets and fix floors, I would consider going back IF items get fixed.

TV is wonderful. Lots of seatting and space. Kitchen worked well, good layout of house and decks have stairs from ground up outside. Pool is bigger than most, 5 ft deep on one end. Luggage lift outside was a nice surprise. Overall clean, short walk to multiple beach entrances.

Big house for our large group of 3 families. Easy access to beach for back and forth through the day. Big pool, hottub, outdoor shower. Could use some upgrades to make a 5 star review: cleanliness of bathrooms, stained shower curtains, broken dishwasher, full outdoor trash bins. They were quick to have maintenance fix dishwasher but there was no communication back that they were coming.

This was not our first time in the house we love this house very disappointed that the luggage lift wasn’t working at all called for maintenance but wasn’t fixed before leaving it’s one of the reasons I booked this house However the house has all you need really and the views are great the house has a lot of space love two dishwashers for our large group sad the owners are selling hopefully the new owners keep it as a rental

Anniversary OBX celebration, 2-week stay

The property is really well located, so close to the ocean, great views, wonderful pool; also really well equipped. The freight elevator was a real plus. Information about the house did not include mention of a grill or outside shower, but the house has both. We came at the end of the season, but the house really should have been cleaner. The king room next to the twin room really needs a new mattress, but the rest of the beds were very comfortable. Would like to suggest that should be blankets for all the beds in addition to the quilt covers. All in all, thank you for a wonderful family stay!

Nice home…

Nice home but need a lot of improvement/upgrades! Microwave handle was broken. Fridge was broken. Left side of sink kept getting clogged and water would not go down…eventually we had to stop using the left side of the sink on our FIRST day! Check in time is ridiculous! 5pm!?!? But yet we get charged for a full day?! Overall….nice house but I wouldn’t rent this property again.

House was very close to the beach. The pol cleaner did a great job. A number of issues came up that weren't resolved the week we stayed there. The downstairs room next to the room with the pool table smelled like urine. We kept the doors closed but it still leaked out. The garbage disposal was broken the entire week and when we ran the dishwasher the water backed up into the sinks and took a long time to drain. The light over the washer/dryer was burnt out and you had to use a flashlight to read the knobs. Chairs at dining room table were very uncomfortable. Would have been nice if the house had a coffee table on the upper level so the family could have worked a jigsaw puzzle.

If clean, it would've gotten five stars - not all TVs worked

Absolutely loved it here, it just was not clean. The TVs in the third floor bedroom and the northeast bedroom of the second floor did not work properly. It seems the wifi connection is bad in that corner of the house. When we got there, the one wasn't even connected and we had to talk to someone about it who called the internet provider but that of course took some time. These things should be checked regularly. Guests should not have to deal with avoidable issues. The kitchen appliances have been updated, we had no issues with anything except some pots and pans should be tossed and replaced. Lots and lots of dishes, utensils, and cookware! Very helpful. They refuse to heat the pool during the summer so it was too cold. Should be heated at request since the guest has to pay for it anyway. All in all, we would stay here again.

Great property, but not great host

The house is fantastic. Dated, but great for kids when you don't have to worry about messing anything up. It’s also very spacious and accommodated our 4 families comfortably. It’s directly across the street from the ocean, and very close to a grocery store, coffee shop and some restaurants. However, Vacasa is really hard to get in contact with if you are having issues. The air conditioning didn’t work the entire time we were there (it was blowing heat instead of cold air). We reached out the first day we were there, but no one ever came to fix it. The outdoor temperature was comfortable the first few days we were there, but on our last day we came back to the inside temperature being 92°. We were miserable and had to stay outdoors the whole day. I would definitely stay here again if Vacasa would do a better job at managing their properties, but all they give you is an 800 number to call and it’s usually someone foreign promising you you get with the correct person to solve the issue, but they don’t.

The house was nice and location was good. But.

The house was not very clean. First off there were old trashy beach chairs and beach toys left under house. I called vacasa they sent maintenance man to get trash and fix shower drain. Kitchen/living room floors were filthy. All sliding doors had dirt and sand in tracks. We found goldfish crackers all around the edges of room. Dirty linens still on beds. Stained up mattresses. Pool area was the worst. We spent the first morning cleaning the dirt, sand, and algae built up around the deck stairs and around pool and fence. The deck around the hot tub smelled like straight piss. I had maintenance man spray bleach all around the hot tub area to help get rid of the smell. So after we finished cleaning the house we had a great time. I’m still waiting for someone from vacasa to call me back about the situation.

The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Vacation Week

We expected a relaxing week and that’s the farthest thing from what we got. Let me tell you what we got: - A grouchy neighbor yelling at kids telling them not to use the grocery and luggage lift instead of addressing the adults outside with them. - A broken shower head on the second floor that caused a huge water leak down into the wall and into the ceiling of the bottom floor. - This water leak required the water to be cut off overnight and part of the day. Also the power/electric had to be shut off as well to the game room for 2 days making it not usable by the kids, which was one of the main reasons this house was chosen. - I lost a day of vacation as I had to stay at the house to be able to let the plumbers and maintenance people in and out of the house for that day. - We were advised that maintenance would clean up the water mess from the water leak and they did not. We cleaned it up. - We as the vacationers were the ones who mitigated the damages to the home from the water damages as the people on the phone lines didn’t know what to do and it took over a half hour or more to get anyone location the line to even come out. By that time we had found the water shut off to the house, after coming into contact with a black widow spider while doing so. - The toilets in the house will not flush properly, specifically one on the second floor or the half bath. And the list goes on. But what’s worse is that VRBO and Vacasa won’t address our concerns.

Family Fun

Very difficult to get anyone on the phone. Received most communications by email. If you are not computer savy this is not the place to rent. When I arrived I was suppose to receive a code at 5pm for entry into property. I waited until 5:15 before I started to try and get in touch with someone since I still had not received it. I called numerous times only to be put on hold then sent to voice mail. I emailed with no luck. I finally sent a message on messenger. I got an auto response that it was not monitored on weekends. Thankful who ever monitors messanger answered me. She intervened on my behalf and said someone was going to call me, which they never did. They finally emailed it to me. It was nerve racking. I thought I had been scammed. The property needs some updating but was nice. Pool table was fun but needs repairs. Some stains on furniture need to be addressed. You can tell it had been cleaned but fans, vents, cabinets need to be wiped down. The pool was great and someone came mid week to vacuum and do maintenance. Reported broken microwave and someone arrived quickly but could not fix it. Not a big deal for us. Very well stocked kitchen. Access to beach is terrific. We had a wonderful time but not sure I would rent again at that price point I expected higher end. On a postive note we weren't a nervous reck about messing anything up. We did book this last minute because of covid and were grateful to find a place.
