Welcome to this charming waterfront farmhouse in New Castle, Va. that is situated on a 136 acre farm. This property offers 3 bedrooms-one with a queen size bed, one with two twin beds, and one with a full bed with it’s own private bathroom. This bathroom has a walk in shower and the common area bathroom has a shower-tub including several amenities. Plus, there’s an additional comfy sofa bed in the large living room space that can sleep two. Additionally, a fully equipped eat in country kitchen with coffee bar. All you need to bring is your favorite foods, and when the weather is nice you can enjoy your coffee or dine on the gorgeous wrap around porches overlooking the creek. If you like fishing and water activities this property has several miles of creek running through it. Numerous waterfowl and whitetail deer are attracted to this property including the beautiful bald eagles and blue herons. If photography is your passion, you won’t be disappointed!In the evenings sit outside by the fire pit and enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful country setting. This property is just 15-20 minutes away from Dragon’s Tooth and McAfee’s Knob Trailheads. Our property has several walking/hiking trails throughout the farm property and in the forest. Private hiking,fishing and camping/picnic area available with a signed waiver at check in. We allow 2 dogs per stay provided they are always leased when outdoors and please clean up after them while in the area around the house. The town of New Castle is just 2 miles away for any necessities you may need and Roanoke and Salem is only a 30 minute drive. Football fans … VT Lane Stadium is only 27 miles away. What a great property! We enjoyed swimming and wading and putting our chairs in the water and watching the beautiful sunset. Made our VT game experience that much better. Thanks for everything!

This was the perfect place to disconnect and unwind! We were only there for one night, but we had everything we could need. Looking forward to going back for a longer stay soon!

We had the best time! It felt like home the moment we got out of the car. We saw many animals: deer, geese, duck, beaver, heron, eagle, cardinal, etc. The sound of the creek was so relaxing. Family gathered on the porch, watched fire flies and stars come out. I never wanted to leave.

Let me tell you, my children and I did NOT want to leave this property. We traveled to four different places on our vacation and my stay at this house was our favorite! My children played in the creek catching crawdads. There were beautiful deer and two speckled fawns that wandered up for a drink from the stream. It was close to town yet felt very private and secluded. Of our entire vacation, I slept best in the bed on this property. Our entire family only wishes we could have stayed longer! We truly loved your home and your sweet little town! P.s. The pancakes at the little restaurant in town were FABULOUS!!!!!! If we lived in New Castle, we would eat at that little diner daily! The food was delicious and the folks there so very kind. New Castle is a special place filled with beautiful nature, architecture, and history. We truly hope to get be able to return and stay longer next time.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

Waterfront property that is easily accessible right in front of the house. Large yard with removable fire pit and plenty of space to play or just relax and enjoy the creek. Many walking/hiking trails , a half acre primitive camping/picnic area as well as water activities are available with a signed waiver. This property is home to several fish species and many types of waterfowl. My favorites are the Blue Heron and the Bald Eagles that are regularly spotted along the creek. The Canadian Geese and the Whitetail Deer are regular visitors. It is a nature photographer’s dream world! Many of these visitors can be seen right from the porches of the Shady Rest. If you want a more challenging hike there are many popular trails nearby such as Dragon's Tooth and Mcafee’s Knob.
