Overall a lovely property. Well kept grounds, house was surprisingly clean for being so large. Main shower needs some updating/ maintenance but again, surprisingly clean for stone tile. The warning about the house making creaking and cracking noises was appreciated. If you are the kind of person that is wary with bumps in the night- you will def want ear plugs to sleep. Location was great- a few places to eat and gas and grab locations nearby, with bayfield only 30 min away. We would definitely stay here again if we were ever in the area again.

The Bark Bay Lodge is beautiful, with a lovely view of Bark Bay on Lake Superior. The home was clean and well appointed -- perfect for my daughters and their families. Large enough for everyone to steal away for some quiet time when needed, yet very comfortable for all the things we did together (although we did underutilize the basement and all of the excellent space there. The hosts were friendly, check-in was a breeze, and the home is located just a couple miles from a nearby town. One of my son-in-laws remarked he would definitely move back, from LA to the midwest, if he could live in a house like this and one with the view this one has! Definitely a rental home we would return to.

Beautiful house and a gorgeous view of the lake. I had coffee out there every morning. No AC, but with the windows open and the fans it was very comfortable. The basement was nice and chilly. Would stay again 100%

Important to know that the main bedroom has big beautiful windows but no shades so light came in by 5a.m.It was unfortunate that the jacuzzi tub was broken.Also, the downstairs was quite cold and took many hours to warm up after the temp was turned up.A beautiful house, clean, well stocked kitchen and great view of the lake.

The in floor heating can take some time to kick in. I do hope you found the space heaters in the bedroom to tide you over 😊

Welcome to Bark Bay Lodge!
We are happy to host you and your guests in our home. The home was built in 2001/2002 and we bought it in the spring of 2023. It was in need of some major repair and restoration and we’ve spent the better part of the past three years lovingly restoring the lodge to its former glory. Crafted with logs from the Aleutian Islands and having over 60,000 lbs. of river rock in the fireplaces, this one-of-a-kind home is a unique mix of rustic charm, Scandinavian architecture, and modern convenience.

Please reach out with any questions as you're planning your trip to the Apostle Islands and the south shores of Lake Superior. We extend our warm welcome to you for your stay at Bark Bay Lodge and we hope your time here is filled with warm memories and lasting peace.
