Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. She lives nearby and is available 24/7 to assist her guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world.
The South Shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feels like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities around here, as well as local arts, plus places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor adventure, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
Eagle's View is just a few miles from Port Wing, where you'll find an awesome coffee shop, two bar/restaurants, and a convenience store with everything from gas to liquor to smoked fish. The cabin is about 15 minutes from Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, a cute coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 35 minutes away, as is Washburn (where you’ll find the largest grocery store in the area). Ashland is a little under an hour away, with a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and a wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour away.
NOTE: The road to the cabin can get VERY rough in the winter/rainy weather. Guests MUST have an all-wheel-drive vehicle to be able to access the cabin.

The “bonus” room at Eagle’s View is delightful: the south shore version of a cabana: a free-standing three season screened in porch that allows you to be surrounded by nature. It holds a full-size futon, two side chairs, and an ottoman. It’s perfect for a couple seeking privacy from the rest of the group, a kid’s retreat, or an opportunity to enjoy a book or a board game during a rainy afternoon. The lower level’s wrap around deck has a grill, picnic table and hammock.
Eagle’s View sits high above the shoreline with spectacular views of the Lake Superior and breathtaking sunsets! For direct beach access there are amazing beaches in nearby Herbster and Port Wing, which offer superb beach combing and swimming opportunities.
There is no television at the cabin, leaving no distraction from what a vacation on the south shore should be about: enjoying the beauty of the lake and surrounding area, company of friends and family, and restorative nature of this so special part of the country.
