Built in 1885, nestled into the woods, and thoughtfully updated over time, the Carpenter’s Cottage blends early American craftsmanship with modern comfort. Kitchen and bath additions made in the 1920s have been preserved and refreshed, creating a welcoming home filled with character and charm. Freshly updated amenities include heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and full utilities. Enjoy a peaceful bedroom, comfortable kitchen and bath, and inviting living space while being surrounded by wildlife and nature. Just perfect for a quiet couple's getaway or relaxing weekend escape. Guests are also invited to enjoy Bonnie Oaks’ on-site perks—72 acres including wooded trails, wildlife viewing opportunities, Neenah Creek access, complimentary kayaks, and vineyard areas. All while being just 20 minutes from the Wisconsin Dells, 15 minutes from Historic Portage, 25 minutes from Devil’s Lake State Park, 30 minutes from Devil's and 45 minutes from Madison. Please note this rental has a one night minimum Thursday- Saturday and a two night minimum Friday- Saturday.

My husband and I loved this cute little cottage. The host made the check in/out process very smooth and was very responsive if questions came up. We definitely will stay again.

We had an incredible time at this lovely little cottage retreat in the woods. Kate is ane excellent host and was readily available if we had any questions, and make the check in process a breeze. Not only does the cottage sit on a gorgeous plot of land, it's just a short drive to any major Dells attractions if being out in nature all weekend isn't something you're interested in doing. I was certainly under prepared by how much this place has to offer in terms of things to do (hiking, kayaking down the river, fishing), and will be better equipped for those things the next time we come. My husband and I had a truly wonderful time relaxing and having a nice break from our city lives and have already been making plans to come back next year for a longer stay. Please book this place! You will not be disappointed!

My mission is to restore and preserve the property’s natural beauty and historic character so it may continue its story as a gathering place for travelers, musicians, history lovers, artists, and nature enthusiasts. Spanning 72 acres, Bonnie Oaks offers expansive wooded trails, a meadow, access to kayaks on Neenah Creek, opportunities to view wildlife, and a lovingly restored vineyard. Guests are invited to slow down, explore, and immerse themselves in everything the land has to offer while enjoying a quieter, richer way to stay. My family and I live on the grounds in the Main House. I am happy to provide complete privacy for a fully independent stay, or to share property insights and local recommendations if desired. Every guest experience is unique, and it’s my goal to make each stay truly special. My hope is that your time here is peaceful, memorable, and enchanting. Come experience the magic of Bonnie Oaks Historic District.
