I will start with the positives. The location is fabulous. You are a short walk from dozens of great restaurants and shops, tennis courts, Mirror Lake, and the Olympic ice rinks. I stayed at the property with my husband and our friends while our kids went to overnight hockey camp in Lake Placid. The layout is great for hanging out - the open floor plan in the center with the kitchen, dining area and living area all together is great. The 3 season porch was not a space we used that much, but I think the kids would have enjoyed that, had they been with us that week. The layout is also good for having two separate families, as one bedroom is on the opposite side of the house as the other and the bunk room is in the middle. The place was clean and the kitchen had most of what we needed. There is a full sized washer and dryer, which is nice when you're doing lots of hiking and outdoor activities. The check in was super easy.
Now the negatives - I cannot give this place a 5-star review for two major reasons. The traffic/road noise is off the charts bad. When we were visiting, there was a great deal of construction going on in Lake Placid both on the roads (literally 500 feet up the hill from the place) and at the Olympic Center and that definitely added to the noise with all the construction noise and extra large vehicles going through. But, it would have been loud anyway. There were delivery trucks in the morning and loud motorcycles and party goers at night. I did not get an uninterrupted night of sleep the entire time I was there (a week). Nathan (the property owner) had people working on another condo in the same building during the day when we were there. I complained to him and he didn't respond to me, but he did ask the workers to stop. When we were leaving the condo, one of the workers asked me if I was the one who complained. When I told him I was, he said he needed to get the work done and could he just work for one more hour. I mean, what am I supposed to say to that? I think if you're going to have someone banging on the walls of the condo you're renting while a tenant is there, that's something you should disclose up front. My husband was trying to work from the property while we were there and he had to take zoom meetings while this construction was going on, on top of the internet going out here and there and the road noise.
