Hi Theresa, I attempted to reach you by phone and by text but you have not responded to me, so I will respond to your review. I'm sad that you gave this negative review of our cottage because you seem so dissatisfied despite all our efforts to meet your needs. My manager, Anysia, was at her bridal dinner when you contacted her about the garbage being left in the unit by the cleaners. She took time out to address the problem by asking Steve to come and get the garbage, which he did, but apparently you had already taken care of it yourself. Anysia called me on her wedding day to let me know that you were hearing the upstairs guests and ask me to contact them, which I did, after speaking with you as well. I'm glad it helped. By the way, I do not say in the description of the the Lower Level that "there is no noise", and feel that since you knew there would be guests upstairs and chose to book the cottage anyway, that you would be accepting of some awareness of their presence. As it turned out, the upstairs guests were not aware of how much their noise was bothering you, until I spoke with them. I believe that we did everything we could to help you when you communicated your need for help. Since you didn't inform us of a mahogany bug issue, we couldn't help you with that. As you probably recall, I sent you extensive information when you booked our cottage that included the possible presence of bugs and critters here at the cottage (a common occurrence in the tropics), just so that you could cancel your reservation if you felt that you weren't willing to stay there if that were to be an actual occurrence. I also sent you arrival information that describes that the manager will meet you at the cottage and show you the apartment. When you asked me about the key, I felt that you must not have read the information or you wouldn't have asked that question. I believe my response was polite, and certainly not rude. I'm sorry you thought it was, because I certainly didn't mean it that way. I sent you refund of $100 because the previous renters garbage was not removed before you moved in (our manager would have been there to clean normally and would have removed it, but we had a substitute cleaner since our manager was away getting married). I apologize again for that mishap and feel that $100 is more that enough to compensate you for any inconvenience that caused you. I feel that my management and I didn't everything possible to make your experience an enjoyable one. Apparently our caring, polite and personal effort on the phone, and my manager's going out of her way for you to make sure you were happy on her wedding day, and all the detail and careful information that was send to you ahead of time wasn't good enough for you, so you chose to advertise your disapproval to the world with this negative review. Perhaps you're not aware of how much damage your review will do to my rental business, or perhaps you are aware and want to get back at us. Whatever the reason, you now have to live with yourself, unless you decide to remove the review. I had hoped to discuss all this with you on the phone, but you never gave me the opportunity. Hi Helen, We're glad you found the cottage "even better than listed" and that you would come again for more stays. That means so much to us, because we work hard to make sure that you feel at home. As for the car rental, yes, you will need a car on St. John. It is a steep, tropical island, and our cottage is on a mountainside overlooking the ocean at 500 ft above sea level, so walking as a main way to get around would be a challenge.
