We got to the house a few minutes after the 3pm check-in time. The cleaning crew was still there. We waited about 5 minutes and then we were told they were done Watch out for the cob webs. The entire place is funished with everything pre-1980. The primary bedroom has no toilet or shower. The yellow shag carpet in the primary bdrm was at least 40years old. The Berber loop carpet in the living room was at least 40years old. It was sprawled out in the living room over 50year old red asbestos tiles. Everything is old and outdated except when something breaks or becomes inoperative then it’s fixed such as the primary bedroom faucet. There is also a noticeable musky smell in the kitchen area. The electric kitchen stainless trash receptacle is inoperable. I won’t go on criticizing the place since we got a couple hundred dollar discount off the original asking price. The location was fine as described.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We appreciate your comments and are glad you enjoyed the location. We apologize that the cleaning crew was finishing up when you arrived. While they were only wrapping up the final touches, we understand that having to wait, even briefly, is not the ideal start to your stay. Our cabin is intentionally furnished with a rustic, vintage style that reflects its character and mountain charm. We understand that this aesthetic isn't for everyone, and we're sorry it didn't meet your expectations. We also appreciate you pointing out the musty smell, cobwebs, and the issue with the kitchen trash receptacle. We'll review these items with our team to ensure they are addressed. We're pleased we were able to offer you a discounted rate, and we hope that, despite the aspects you mentioned, you were able to enjoy your time in the area. Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us continue improving the guest experience.

The property is well located for access to Pinecrest Lake and area activities which was our primary goal. While it had the bedrooms and bathrooms we needed, the house sadly shows its age (50 yrs) which makes me think the pictures posted were taken many years earlier. And, none of the pictures showed the empty cardboard boxes, misc. hoses, sleds, trash cans and snowplow located in the bottom room or the old furniture and boxes against the outside of the house! Clearly this house is in need of general maintenance, updating and cleaning. The owner was very prompt in responding to my messages of concern and seemed genuinely surprised by and apologetic for the issues we encountered. However no corrective actions were taken during our stay. VRBO might consider improving home listings by adding more details on items such as those below given that some renters may have mobility issues:1. Driveways: This one is narrow and steep, requiring backing down or backing up.2. Parking limitations: This house holds 2 cars on the steep driveway.3. Stairs: The two flights inside are very narrow and steep. Outside there were six stairs to get to the ground floor and another flight to get to the front door.4. Location of bedrooms and bathrooms; e.g. bath and bedroom on ground floor, bath and bedroom on main floor.I have used VRBO many times. This house could be great but is currently not worth the rental rate.

Hi, Shivi. Here’s a professional, gracious response that acknowledges the concerns without sounding defensive: Thank you, Donna, for taking the time to share such detailed and honest feedback. We truly appreciate you pointing out both the positives and the areas where we need to improve. We’re glad the location worked well for your visit and that the property provided the bedrooms and bathrooms you needed. We are genuinely sorry that the condition of the home and some of the items you encountered did not meet your expectations. After receiving your concerns, we immediately brought all of the issues you highlighted to our management and cleaning teams. They acknowledged that some details were missed, and we are taking this feedback seriously. We agree that the property needs additional maintenance, updating, organization, and a more thorough level of cleaning and preparation. We also appreciate your suggestions regarding the driveway, parking, stairs, and the location of the bedrooms and bathrooms. These are important details for future guests, particularly guests who may have mobility considerations, and we will review our listing to make sure the information is clearer and more accurate. We’re sorry that corrective action could not be taken during your stay. We understand how disappointing that must have been, especially when you brought the concerns to our attention. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will use it to make the property better for future guests. We hope that, despite the issues you experienced, you were able to enjoy Pinecrest Lake and the surrounding area. Thank you again for your candid feedback and for giving us the opportunity to improve.

I’ve always been drawn to the magic of the Sierra Nevada, and Strawberry is my favorite escape. When I'm not hosting, you can usually find me exploring the trails around Pinecrest or enjoying the quiet of the forest. I love being a host because it allows me to share this special corner of California with others. I pride myself on being a very responsible host—I stay highly active to ensure my guests have everything they need for a 5-star mountain experience!

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

We chose this neighborhood because Strawberry offers a rare sense of timeless mountain peace that is getting harder to find. It’s a place where the air smells like cedar and pine, and the pace of life naturally slows down the moment you turn off Highway 108.
What we love most about the scene here:
• The "All-Season" Advantage: We love that we don't have to choose between a "ski cabin" and a "lake house." Being just 10 minutes from Dodge Ridge and 5 minutes from Pinecrest Lake means this neighborhood is vibrant and beautiful 365 days a year.
• The River Connection: Having the Stanislaus River winding through the community adds a layer of tranquility. We love being able to take a short walk to the water’s edge or visit the historic Strawberry Inn for a meal by the river.
• The Stargazing: Because the neighborhood is tucked away from major city lights, the night sky here is breathtaking. One of our favorite things to do is sit on the deck and look at the Milky Way—it’s a level of clarity you just can't get in the valley.
• A True Basecamp: This neighborhood feels like a hidden gateway. You’re close enough to the action of Leland Snow Play and the Summit Loop trails, but when you come back to Georges Drive, it feels like your own private sanctuary.
In short, we chose Strawberry because it captures the "Classic California Cabin" experience perfectly. It’s a community built on outdoor adventure and quiet mountain evenings, and we wanted to be right in the heart of it.

この宿泊施設の特徴

What truly sets our 1,600 sq. ft. cabin apart is the rare combination of space and soul. Unlike smaller mountain rentals, we offer three full bedrooms and a bonus game room, giving everyone in your group plenty of space to relax. From the nostalgic warmth of our free-standing fireplace to the luxury of a sunken tub in the primary bath, every corner is designed for comfort. Best of all, we are perfectly positioned—just 5–10 minutes from every major recreation spot, yet tucked away on a private, wooded lot that feels like your own secret retreat.
