A relaxed coastal studio just steps from Terrace Beach. Whale’s Tail puts you right beside the Wild Pacific Trail and Lighthouse Loop - one of Ucluelet’s most beautiful places to explore. Newly refreshed with modern touches and a thoughtfully stocked kitchenette, it’s an easy home base for beach walks with your dog, surf trips, and quiet evenings by the ocean. Guests love how quickly they can step outside and be on the beach or trail. You might even see some whale’s tails if you’re lucky!
Whale’s Tail is a comfortable main-floor studio suite designed to make exploring Ucluelet easy.
The open layout includes a queen bed, a new queen sofa bed, and a cozy living area with an electric fireplace - great for relaxing after a day on the trails or beach. The pull-out couch isn't your typical sofa bed - it's an ultra high-end piece featuring a high quality memory foam mattress for a genuine mattress-level comfort, and an effortless one-pull operation that converts it in seconds. Guests are consistently surprised at how well they sleep on it.
The kitchenette includes a cooktop, small fridge, sink, and cooking essentials, making it easy to prepare simple meals during your stay. Many guests mention how thoughtfully equipped the kitchen is compared to similar studio spaces.
The bathroom was recently renovated with a new shower. Decorated with local artwork, the suite reflects the supernatural West Coast vibe of Ukee.
While the space is compact, it’s carefully designed to have everything you need for a restful stay near the ocean. The suite is not oceanfront, but Terrace Beach and the Wild Pacific Trail are only a few steps from the door.
Guests travelling with pets will also appreciate the small touches like dog bowls, towels, and blankets provided for furry companions.

★ WILDLIFE ★ Ucluelet is a small seaside town surrounded by wilderness. Please do not leave any food or garbage outside! Bears and other wildlife frequent the neighbourhood, be cautious of your surroundings, lock entry and vehicle doors, and it’s a good idea to carry bear spray. There is also a majestic family of eagles located in the large tree above so please be mindful of small children and pets.
★ THE DRIVE TO UCLUELET ★ Portions of the drive to Ucluelet have limited reception and limited gas stations or stores. Plan to fill up in Port Alberni - the last major hub for your grocery/supply/restaurant needs before you reach the town. You can also get groceries and gas in town when you arrive.
The vibe: a quiet, laid-back pacific northwest surf town with towering old growth trees, abundant wildlife, and unmatched ocean views around every corner. This location is ideal for guests who want quick access to beaches, surfing, kayaking, cycling, and hiking.
The suite is located beside Terrace Beach, one of Ucluelet’s most peaceful beaches known for sunsets, sea glass, and wildlife sightings. Guests frequently spot otters, seals, bald eagles, bears and seabirds along the shoreline.
The Wild Pacific Trail and Lighthouse Loop are only minutes away on foot, offering spectacular coastal views and some of the best storm watching on Vancouver Island.
From here you can easily walk, bike or drive into town for cafés, restaurants, groceries, and the harbour. Surf beaches and Pacific Rim National Park are also within a short drive toward Tofino. Take time to check out the unique shops, breweries and distilleries minutes away from the property. You can also rent bikes or surfboards/paddleboards/kayaks, hop on a whale watching tour, visit the aquarium, and venture out on several epic hiking trails.
