I have travelled continuously for work for 26 years through 70 countries. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I booked through Stayz, the host cancelled on the day of check in. I had just arrived in Melbourne from the USA, tired and jet lagged. The host told me to book direct through them, I was adamant I would only pay the same amount I had confirmed on my Stayz booking and they agreed. They continuously sent me links trying to trick me into paying more money. I kept asking them to adjust the price so I could finalize the payment. I was at a family event on Sunday night and woke up to 16 missed calls and many text messages from them on Monday morning. Due to the weird behavior of the host, the incessant messaging and calling I looked up their business and found that this is the only property they have on their website. The host installed cctv during our stay. The next day we were heading out, within a minute we received a call complaining we had left the garage door open. We felt very uncomfortable for the entire stay, like we were being watched and were distressed by the hosts constant texting and incessant calling. The house was clean because it was new and we were the first guests, many things were still in original packaging. There were many new lamps without any globes, locks on the windows without keys, not a single coat hanger, many things missing and annoying electronic locks on every bedroom. Was so glad to leave this house.
