Mallentin is located between Grevesmühlen and Dassow, gently hilly on the lower reaches of the Stepenitz River, not far from the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck and Travemünde. Worthwhile excursions include the Priwall Peninsula with its wonderful sandy beach and the four-masted barque Passat, which can also be visited.
