The bookshelf offers a variety of reading material—from crime novels and fiction to magazines such as *brand eins*, *Schöner Wohnen*, and *Landlust*. Travel guides and regional maps are also available. In addition, there are CDs, a small DVD collection, and various games. When the weather is nice, the large terrace and garden invite you to enjoy the outdoors.

The Ostsee-Holthuus is a smoke-free home. Out of consideration for guests with allergies, pets are unfortunately not allowed.

The area around Hohwacht Bay is a top pick for independent travelers. Those who vacation here love nature and prefer to avoid paved beach promenades lined with run-of-the-mill souvenir shops, ice cream parlors, and pizzerias. Yet you won’t have to go without anything: in addition to the fine-sand beaches in Sehlendorf and Weißenhaus, cliffs, and inland lakes, there’s plenty to discover among the rolling hills of East Holstein and in the neighboring district of Plön—for body and soul, heart and mind. Even during the off-season and shoulder seasons, a trip to the East Holstein coast is well worth it. The beaches are almost deserted, and the North German weather is often better than its reputation!
