Shepherd's Hut with Private Hot Tub & Moorland Views, Peak District
Lavender Retreat is a cosy shepherd's hut retreat for two, tucked into our glamping field with its own private hot tub and sweeping moorland views towards Ramshaw Rocks. Designed for couples wanting to properly switch off, it's a peaceful spot where the loudest sound most nights is the wind on the hillside.
Inside, the hut is compact but comfortable, with a fold-down bed that converts the space between cosy bedroom and a place to sit and relax with a coffee. A fully equipped kitchenette gives you everything you need to self-cater, and there's a private shower room with WC and hand basin just steps away.
Step outside and you're right in the glamping field itself, with hammocks strung nearby. Your own private hot tub is the highlight — perfect for soaking under the stars after a day exploring The Roaches, with those moorland views stretching out in front of you.
Lavender Retreat sits right beside our wildlife pond, and the setting rewards anyone who takes a moment to notice it. Dragonflies and damselflies hover over the water through summer, tawny owls call from the treeline as dusk settles in, and bats hunt low over the pond most evenings — settle into a hammock at last light and you'll likely catch all three.
This is genuine "straight from the door" walking and climbing country. Hen Cloud rises directly behind the site, with The Roaches a short walk beyond it and Ramshaw Rocks and Newstones a short drive away — routes range from a quick pre-breakfast summit of Hen Cloud to the full 10-mile Roaches & Lud's Church circular, with an easier option down at Tittesworth Reservoir if you fancy something gentler. Climbers and boulderers have hundreds of routes on the local gritstone right on the doorstep, from Moderate right up to E7, plus bouldering in the woods and on The Roaches' Lower Tier — with Peak District limestone and Stanage Edge both within easy day-trip reach.
Hen Cloud Cottages sits in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of the Peak District, close to Leek and within easy reach of Buxton, Bakewell and Castleton. Whether you're here for walking, climbing, or simply a quiet weekend away together, Lavender Retreat is built for slowing down.
