A nice little get away at a luxurious cottage on the lake!

This property was almost perfect! Luann was great with communication and the property is absolutely beautiful with a lot of awesome updates! The only complaints I have which are obviously no fault of the owners, but the lake is disgusting and as listed by the owner, there is an outbreak of water shield which was a bummer. The beach is a short distance away as listed but the beach was pretty gross too and was a disappointment. Again not the owners fault! They do have kayaks and a paddleboard for rental but unfortunately there is no real safe way to get into the kayaks/paddleboard as the property is on a rocky ledge where it meets the water and where there is a slope to get in the water with cement and a wooden board, the there is an old pontoon right there and in the way making access difficult. Also it's VERY slippery getting in at that spot. I was able to get in to kayak and paddeboard but almost got hurt every time. Unfortunately my husband was not able to get into the kayaks at all due to how awkward/unsafe it was getting in. He didn't want to risk getting hurt. So that was a bummer not to be able to utilize the kayaks as planned for both of us. We did see a lot of reviews of good fishing right off the dock which was a big pull for us to stay at this property but unfortunately we did not catch a thing off the dock. I thought I'd have better luck out on the kayak but only caught a handful of tiny sunfish. Still fun but just not what I expected based on the reviews. All in

Newald Family Vacation

We had 5 in our party, including my 2 grandchildren, ages 2 and 4. The cabin/home itself was very nice and we all had our own bedroom. Fishing was good right off the pier for pan fish. We did not keep any of the fish as fishing was mainly for the learning opportunity/fun activity of my 4 year old grandson. Later on the last day of our stay, as I re-read the Cabin handbook, I read of Mercury in the lake, and what fish to eat, and not to eat, and how often. I was double glad we decided to throw them all back in. There was a beach 3-4 properties away which we used. The water was nice, but a little dirty and we only used it once. While the cabin/property was very nice, we found the location not quite to be what we needed with the 2 grandkids. We traveled an hour to locations that offered more kid-friendly activities. The lake/beach in Laona offered a solution for swimming. The beach was very nice, and it had a playground as well. We did enjoy the Fish fry in Long lake, just 15 minutes north on 139. All in all, it was a great vacation, great get-a-way.

Quiet vacation

We rented this property to spend time with family fishing and swimming. Fishing was good, although there are high mercury levels so fish shouldn't be consumed. That was a disappointment, as well as all the weeds making the swimming area small. There are no pictures showing any weeds. The cabin is very nice, with awesome updates.

Great up north escape

Wonderful cabin in the north woods!! Love the remodeled living spaces and enjoyed time on the large deck! We have stayed twice and will stay again!

Such a funa relaxing stay

Such a great property, many more amenities than described. Lake view from house (especially kitchen) and deck are beautiful. We had super spotty cell phone reception (almost none inside the house) but that was very appealing to us (and also common in all other listings we looked at in the area). We were able to takr our dog which was wonderful. There were a lot of mosquitos but non-deet bigspray was effective enough for us to keep the mosquitos away. We rented a kayak and brought our own paddleboard for the lake. Went out every day, shared the lake with some fishermen boats but ver sporadically, otherwise had the lake to ourselves. The host was very receptive and easy to contact. The binder inside the cabin tells you everything you need to know. Could not reccomend more!

Fun Getaway

Wonderful getaway! The check in process was a breeze and we had all of the amenities of home. My girls loved taking the paddle board and kayaks out on the water. My husband caught quite a few fish with the kayak. We fried them up and had a wonderful fire. Great family stay!

Relaxing vacation

We had a great time. Went kayaking around the lake. Saw several families pulling kids on ski’s and such. Our dog lived jumping off dock and swimming. Owners were very nice and accommodating. Beautiful place

Week following 4th of July

We loved staying here with our two kids. We all loved fishing, the row boat, and the beach. The place is well stocked with just about everything you need to cook and relax. The deck is great as well!

Beautiful and peaceful getaway!

The lake was gorgeous, quiet, and peaceful. The cabin was clean and the layout was great for families with small children. The outdoor space was great, too. We had access to everything we wanted for our lake experience. Would highly recommend!

Quiet and Peaceful

We loved being in this part of the Northwoods, as opposed to the more touristy Eagle River area, where we usually go. We took some amazing hikes in Forest and Florence Counties, and even ventured out to a couple of the waterfalls one day. Van Zile Lake was quiet, and we were never bothered by jet skis or loud motor boats. While the house is a bit of a distance to stores and restaurants, the kitchen is fully equipped, which made cooking a breeze. The lake is gorgeous and the house is set up in a way that it’s always in your view. The hosts were very communicative and answered all our questions - and even responded to a few minor suggestions we made! There’s no internet, and almost no cell connection, on the property, but CJ’s is a great little bar/coffee shop 2 miles up the road where we were able to sit outside and get online with no problems when we needed to connect. Altogether a perfect week!

Wonderful stay if you are looking for wonderful peace and quiet. A bit of a drive if you forgot to bring anything, so be prepared and plan. Quiet lake. Wonderful weather. Great stay!

Fun Times

We had lots of fun and the place was great. Enjoyed the Kayaks/paddle board on the beautiful water. Lovely sunrise over the lake. Appreciated the fans that were available as it did get rather warm inside. Neighbors were very nice, grown ups and kids. Lot's of fireworks around the lake that we enjoyed. One improvement would have been if the neighbor's dog would have stayed out of the yard or even if the neighbor would have picked up the dog's poop from the yard b/c we all wanted to walk around barefoot without stepping in the piles. Overall, great time and nice people.

Wonderful stay!

Our stay was for 5 days in late June. We had a great time! The cabin was very clean and well appointed. The deck was large with a very nice barbecue grill. The lake is fairly isolated and the fishing in the first couple of days was very nice (weather changed). Additionally, we saw no water sports on the lake, which greatly enhanced our much needed peace and quiet. Would definitely stay again!

Great weekend on a beautiful lake

The lake cottage was as advertised. Nice place to stay while fishing on of the Crystal Falls area rivers. Luann was a great communicator. We had no problems all weekend and the lake is quiet and fantastic.

This was purchased as a joint venture, between myself (and husband Pat), bestie Lisa and Pat's cousin Tim (also know as tool time Tim, Cabana Boy, and garage boy. lol

This property is located a short distance from a cabin owned by my husband's family. Property went up for sale when the economy took a turn for the worse. We would drive by it every time we went to our cabin and finally Lisa said, let's check out that cottage...and here we are.

この宿泊施設の特徴

The 3 bedrooms, full bath and dining room have been remodeled. The walls are now log and have hardwood floors and/or new carpet. It is just beautiful. We plan to continue to remodel the rest in time. The cottage is ready for rent!!! The lake is quiet and you won't see much boat traffic, it is a small lake. You can enjoy the loons from the dock, or listen to them calling from inside the cottage. The sunrise is OUTSTANDING... if you can get up that early to see it. I know some of you can!
