Nice stay with a few complaints

Three complaints; The floors were dirty and sandy when we arrived. After a day of walking barefoot in the house our feet very dirty on the bottom. The gas grill was rusted out inside and didn't cook properly as a result, and the thermostat in the oven was way off. It took an hour and an half to cook baked potatoes ant 400 degrees. Other than that the house was comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. The kitchen was well stocked with all cooking and eating needs. If it had not been for the items listed I would have given the house a 4.

Well appointed and very clean house!

We rented this house last minute, so we didn't have high hopes of a great place going into the rental. I must say, this house was adorable. Super clean, no weird old house smell, and well appointed provisions, with updated kitchenware and thoughtful inclusions in every single room. Also, the decisions the owner made with updates really made a major impact- new light fixtures, butcher block countertops, great sink etc... I appreciated how in every bedroom was a nice laundry basket, there were toothbrush holders in each bathroom, and plenty of very nice dinnerware and coffee cups- all matching, which I also appreciated. The beds were comfortable and the linens were nice- I loved the comforters, as they weren't ugly and could easily be washed and used. We loved the little kitchenette off the pool, such a great addition for drinks and hangout. The only aspects of the house we didn't like were the outdoor elements- the pool area and deck needs a bit of updating, and it was dirty from debris. The pool skimmer was broken, but Shoreline fixed that immediately and had someone come clean the pool. The hot tub was old and yucky - but the kids loved it, I would not go in. The furniture on the deck off the main floor was missing a table, just a bunch of chairs with a random grill cover thrown into the corner of the deck. Also there were fire ants on the deck, we had a hard time trying to sit out there because of the ants. The hammocks were a really nice touch, our kids loved hanging out on the hammocks. Overall this was a great place, and the price point was just right...We would stay here again.

Thanks for sharing your house!

Great house, stocked kitchen and clean! Beds were comfy, basketball net- grill- and foosball table were added bonuses. Close to town. Can ride bikes into Duck. Thanks for sharing your house!! Some suggestions- the trees and bushes need to be cut back. The pool and pool area was gross and dirty daily bc of the overhang. We had to clean it up daily. By end of week pool was green because of the dirt? No sun? The back path to the "beach" needs to be cleaned up too. It looked like no one had walked thru it all season.

Keep on coming back 
. Fantastic house

This home is fantastic, and we keep coming back to spend our family vacations in this gorgeous place. Large group with 6 adults and 5 kids greatly enjoyed our stay, as always. The location is excellent on a very quiet street just minutes to the beach, restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities. Nice private backyard with large pool, hot tub & BBQ. House is very modern, clean with high end appliances, fully loaded kitchen and very comfortable beds. Communications with owners was effortless and quick. 5 star accomodation with great amenities and easy access. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home!!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house had been newly renovated with new flooring thru out and this was very nice. The location was near the sound a little ways from the Beach. We took our golf cart so the distance wasn't too bad to the beach.

Close to sound and ocean

Very nice floors and upgrade to kitchen. Could use some more kitchen essentials such as crab forks, salt and pepper. Keurig needs replacement. Master bedroom king mattress was very uncomfortable. Needs definite replacement! Hot tub light was out. Reported it but it wasn't fixed by the time we left so couldn't use it at night. Tree over pool and hot tub dumps a lot of leaves into pool. Some doors wouldn't lock from inside. Short walk to beach by street over. Nice dock overlooking sound at end of street. Loved the hammock but need one on deck on main floor outside kitchen for everyone to use! Overall nice upgrades to house. Enjoyed our stay although rained a lot during stay!

The house was very nice but it needs some updating. The AC Filters need to be cleaned. The house had everything we needed. it was the perfect size for our group. The yard needs to be improved. There were ant piles everywhere and the grass was dead so we were not able to use it to play games. Due to the extreme heat while we were there the upstairs AC was unable to keep the temperature cool during the day but by bedtime it was ok. Plenty of refrigerator space upstairs and downstairs. nice views from the deck. easy walk to the ocean. Pool was nice but never used the hot tub due to the extreme heat.

Great location and house

Would be excited to stay here again. Cleaning fee and expectations/contract language around cleaning are steep compared that what had been done before we arrived. We had an issue with a dirty grill that also didn’t work but we reached out to property management and they had it resolved within 2 hours.

Clean and great location

It was very clean when we arrived. The kitchen is on the 3rd floor so you definitely get your legs a work out. Plenty of room for a couple families. Even though the pool is small, the kids enjoyed it. It was a short walk to the sound, where we watched sunsets and I paddle boarded one morning. It’s a quick bike ride to the beach, which we rented our bikes that they drop off at the rental. Then my in laws would drive to the parking spot with all of our beach gear. The mosquitos were bad on the patio, so we purchased some candles which helped. The kids bunk beds were very thin and uncomfortable for the teens. The king bed mattress on the 3rd level was caving in so we had someone come out and look at it, which they quickly responded and did a temporary fix. The supports under the bed look like they could give out any time. The other beds on the 2nd level were fine. Definitely enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful Inside

The inside of the property was beautiful and clean and met our needs in every aspect. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need for a party of 10 people. The bathrooms were clean although there is very little water pressure. The outside of the property was a bit of a mess. The pool area was pretty dirty (pool itself was clean) and we had to hose out the carport in order to keep tracking dirt and sand inside. There are no door mats, area rugs, or even bath mats throughout the house which would have helped. Overall a nice property in a nice area of Duck. 4 stars

We had a great stay

The house comfortably accommodated our family (6 adults and 4 children). The pool in the back was lifesaver. It was too hot and windy for the beach so we spend a lot of time in that little pool. It was perfect way to cool down after a morning walk or bike ride and a great way to wind down the kids at the end of the day. The kitchen was little on the small side with 6 active adults who like to cook. It would be helpful to provide a card table to extend the table to seat everyone at the dinner table. Luckily we brought one along for jigsaw puzzles so it worked out for us. The room for the kids worked out perfectly for them. They loved it. Could use another good broom; one is pretty beat. Also appreciated the noodles and toys . We had lots of fun at your house. thanks

Great stay in Duck!

Had a great first time trip to Duck. The house has everything you need including a nice pool and hot tub. Rooms were well-suited for a large gathering of family. Some things to note, the decks are not sanded so my little ones got splinters in their feet so wear shoes when out on the decks. Lots of leaves on the outdoor table and chairs which is due to the overhanging trees. The house is within walking distance to beach that has a life-guard and parking was easy with the provided pass.

House was well kept and had everything we needed. It was a nice short walk to the beach. When we arrived, the pool was cloudy. I emailed property maintenance and they sent someone out promptly and the issue was resolved. We enjoyed our stay. The only recommendations I would have are to replace the mattresses as they were worn-out and the pool area could have been cleaned up a little better. There were lots of leaves in the fence corners. Great vacation, nice home.

Needs little work

The beds are very hard. Seen a rat by hot tub first night. Had cockroaches by hot tub. Pool started to turn green. House is beautiful inside and loved the location and was quiet.

Duck house review

House was in excellent condition and kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Living room furniture and pool area was excellent. Sheets and towels were old and worn. TVs were way too small especially in the living room for viewing and outdated. Master bedroom frame was loose and made too much noise. The queen size mattresses need replaced.

Very good

Overall very good. Everyone enjoyed the pool. easy walk to the ocean. the house was clean. My only complaint was the microwave was way too high for a shorty like me. I also had trouble reaching the kitchen cabinets. I would suggest including a step stool un the kitchen.

Perfect Birthday Week

Location Location Location!!! This spot is perfect. We come to Outer Banks every summer and this house was in the perfect location. Easy to get to the shops in Duck. Kids rode the bike there every day. Beach access across the street. House has been remodeled and it was nice. Pool and hot tub was great. Big tree in the back yard which made nice for shade but we were constantly having to clean leaves out the pool. Pool furniture wasn’t the cleanest but that didn’t deter us. Kids room stayed warmer than the rest of the house and their tv didn’t work.

Great house, wonderful location

Just a short mile from the main restaurants and shops. You can easily walk or ride your bike there. My family loved the house. Communication with the management company was spot on. Beds were okay, but nothing compares to home. Everything was BRAND NEW. It was a pleasure. I’ve already told family and friends to check it out for their vacation!

Great Place

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 2nd year staying at Duck Tales, love the location and that we could bring our dog.

Good rental but needs Lil bit of TLC updates

Nice place to stay but overdue for few updates & carpet needs replaced b/c very old run down & worn out areas in home (at minimum carpets need shampooed w/good cleaning scrub). Also many windows don't lock so felt a little unsafe at night.

Disappointed

The neighborhood and location were great. The house was very disappointing. Trash outside in sand pit, beer cans and bottles in side yard and on some of the decks. Lots of chairs on decks and lounge chairs by pool but many were broken. The house smelled of mold on the entire middle floor to the point where it triggered asthma symptoms in one guest. There were water stains on the wall of one bathroom. There was blood stains (large) on one of the comforters! Mattresses saggy and in bad shape. We have stayed in OBX for many years and this house was truly disappointing and not worth the money.
