We enjoyed two weeks with grown children and a family friend in this remarkable West Stockbridge home, a perfect launching pad for Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, the Mount, Rockwell, Chesterwood, charming towns, and everything else in the Berkshires. Someone really lives here, so the home comes with everything you need, even for extensive cooking. The formal garden (with gazebo) is beautiful and maintained. I made heavy use of the kayaks on the pond, which provides a splendid view from the deck(s) and sun room. We tested the 3-system A/C on one really hot day, and they performed well.
A special salute to our host, whose useful but brief guide to the home reflects an intelligent, practical mind treating guests as adults, instead of the more typical legalisms of a recent grad from a second-rate law school. Communications were excellent and prompt.
Don't miss the quirky, creative, and sometimes moving sculpture garden at the cleverly named TurnPark, next to the Turnpike, about a three-block walk away. Not as striking as Storm King, but in some ways more intriguing. When you think you saw everything, look again.
