The house is two minutes on foot from a charcuterie, four minutes from a good boulangerie-patisserie, five minutes from a supermarket. Unfortunately the wine coop was closed for vacation while we were there, but there's a good wine shop in les Arcades. Neighborhood is quiet (well, the music school is one street over, but you can only hear them practicing from the rooftop veranda). Good selection of restaurants within walking distance. We got our daily exercise up and down the stairs; I would advise barefoot or shoes with non-slip soles on the stairs, and if you are 6' or taller, mind the low lintels.
And, Nyons is well located for all that's wonderful about Provence. Go north, south, east, or west, there are villages perches', vineyards, Roman ruins, and spectacular scenery.
