La Menagerieは、2階建て（約2045平方フィート）の18世紀のワインメーカーの家です。

Everything was perfect

The house and outside areas look really nice. The inside looks great as well. Spacious but cozy, very well stocked with anything you need for cooking. Unfortunately we had terrible weather, but would have been a great house to spend a week outside in the sun with the nice pool, pétanque and volleyball court, and BBQ area. It’s also very quiet and secluded. Great place to relax :) only (very small) remark we have is that the information we got about the area was a bit outdated (markets on certain days, and a walking route not existing anymore). All in all, highly recommend!

Fabulous place!

Lovely property in a quiet place - great for relaxing. Can cycle to the Boulangerie on one of the many bikes kept at the property and big supermarket is about 15 min drive. We loved it!

The house was in a beautiful setting and was well decorated and equipped as described. The small pool and sauna were fantastic. Brigitte and Jean Francois the caretakers were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We would stay here again.

Lovely La Menagerie

We cannot say enough about our stay at this absolute jewel of a property. It is even more charming in person. It has every amenity you could think of and incredible outdoor spaces. Take advantage of the badminton and the bicycles. The booking and checkin went very smoothly and the host provided a great deal of local information. We loved La Menagerie!

Wonderful quiet location!

A beautiful place which is cozy and nicely decorated and furnished—a little out of town for a quiet, soothing visit. Outdoor dining area, lovely pool and a large play area with all sorts of sports equipment. A well-stocked kitchen, cd player and a variety of cds. Upstairs is a nice area to relax, watch tv, read, etc. All the bedrooms were very nice. Highly recommend Patrick’s lovely home and hospitality. Great base to visit regional chateaus.

Perfect Loire Valley Retreat

This is the second time I’ve stayed at La Menagerie and plan to return. It is such a lovely home. It feels delightfully secluded, but is still situated conveniently for visiting chateaux, dining out, obtaining groceries, etc. There are also so many things to do on property…swimming, ping pong, volleyball, croquet, boules, biking… that it takes some convincing to get myself to leave to see the rest of the countryside. 😊 You will fall in love with La Menagerie.

Great experience with my stay!

It was a family trip including some seniors and a baby and we had a lovely stay at this charming place. Everything was good from the large living room, kitchen, family room, bedrooms, fireplace, swimming pool, sauna, and outdoor sitting. The manager was very kind and was responsive to any questions we had. The only thing that was different from the online listing was that someone else was staying at the house next to it during our stay. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I'd come back again without a question!

A place to be

We found La Menagerie to be just as it appears in the pictures. We were greeted by Brigitte and Jean-François who made the check in and check out process easy. The property is in a very quiet area with several villages not far away and easy to find with a GPS navigation system; our car used TomTom. The house is very comfortable and clean; the property is restful with many amenities. There is a very nice bakery about 10 minutes away by car in the village of Cheverny . We would definitely stay here again but next time for a few more days.

Relaxing property in the Loire region

This is a wonderful property with lots of facilities in a very tranquil area. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the property as well as day trips to the local Chateaus and bistros. We were greeted and introduced to the property by the wonderful Brigitte and Jean-Francois. Before then Patrick the owner shared so many great suggestions on where to go and see local sites or eat in the local area. It added to the holiday and made planning on what to do so much easier😀 The property is wonderful with comfy beds and lovely furniture and decor plus excellent outdoor areas for relaxing, eating and playing a variety of games. We highly recommend this property and the hosts who made it so easy to organise the trip and have a relaxing stay.

Charming French country house!

We couldn't have been happier with this charming home and its amenities! It exceeded our expectations and had everything our whole family needed for an enjoyable stay. If you're looking to experience the French countryside and be within easy driving distance of major chateaux (Blois, Chambord, Cheverny, Chenonceaux, and Amboise), this is the place for you! We took advantage of the small heated pool for swimming and also the available bikes to take a ride to nearby village Fougeres and its old castle. Caretakers were helpful. We spoke French with them since I'm a French teacher. We hope to go back someday!

Amazing and better than the pictures

This is a beautiful property located in the heart of Chateau country. The pictures don't do it justice. It is clean and everything works as advertised including a washer and dryer. They have bicycles for riding around the flat countryside. And they provide ping pong, badminton and a small pool that is amazing for hot summer days. The owners are wonderful (but you'll need to speak French or use your phone to translate) and they have an English speaking manager Patrick. This place provides for an amazing experience in the French countryside.

Gorgeous property in the Loire

We were a group of four who stayed in the main house at La Ménagerie in May. What a beautiful location, in a peaceful country setting, yet close to many of the Loire Valley's interesting sites and towns. The house and property are so lovely with tons of space to spread out. We were happy to have the well maintained pool to cool off in, given the heat we experienced. The owner, Patrick, was very easy to deal with and very hepful when there was a small mix up with VRBO reservation process. The caretakers, Brigitte and Jean-François, take great care of the property and house, and were very responsive to any questions. The barn was rented out to another party during our stay, but this did not pose a problem as they were very quiet and their outdoor space is very separate from the main house's. We would not hesitate to return to La Ménagerie in the future.

Beautiful but hidden charges and conditions

The house was beautiful, well equipped with sports equipment and well located. Unfortunately there were undisclosed conditions, eg check in only before 7pm which was impossible for us given our travel plans, pool heating charge, dog charge and a deduction from our cash deposit due to the house being left dirty (reasons given being towels left on the bathroom floor at the end by the children and DVDs left out of order). The owner claimed these terms were all in "the contract" but when I found the "Standard Conditions" doc in my emails they were not, nor were they included in the property listing on Vrbo. This all left a rather unpleasant taste, unfortunately.

Very familiar with the Loire Valley area where part of his family (mother and grandmother side) were born and raised.

First: location. It is hard to find a better base for grand chateau hopping. But this is also a great place for relaxing and enjoying the French lifestyle at its best in a region that is famous for its 'art de vivre' (gardens, food & wine, etc.). Second: location: “La Ménagerie” sits in a exceptionally quiet and relaxing environment, immensely enjoyable for nature lovers! Walk-out from the house and follow the 300 Km of secure and well signaled bike paths and hiking trails throughout the chateau country. Third: location: “La Ménagerie” enjoys a secluded location, but it is not in the middle of nowhere: it belongs to the jurisdiction of Chitenay, a charming village with a boulangerie/grocery and a gourmet Auberge-Restaurant. Farmers markets, restaurants and supermarkets are countless in the neighboring localities such as Bracieux or Cour-Cheverny, Contres or Amboise, and even medium size cities such as the Royal city of Blois, being only 15 min. away by car. Best of all, the internet connection is wireless, fast and reliable! Fourth: Not only charming but also very comfortable! At “La Ménagerie”, charm does rhyme with comfort (see list of amenities). Fifth: It is ideal for family and reunions with friends. The cottage’s layout guarantees unforgettable moments all around. Sixth: kids (and young at heart) love it! In addition to the pool, pond and garden, they will love the amusement parks and children museums around the area: the Beauval Zoo that belongs to a very exclusive club of Panda zoos, the Titntin Museum or the House of Magic in Blois, The Chateau d’Ussé (also called the castle of the sleeping beauty), etc.

This property (main cottage, side cottage and barn) is typical of winemaker's houses in the region, with dormant windows sitting on the roof, local stones and tiles that become so bright at sunrise and colorful at sunset. In this cottage, charm does rime with comfort and it is elegant without being pretentious. There are interesting views of its stunning environment from every single window.
