Eagles Watch has become a famous Malibu landmark that is impossible to miss while driving along Pacific Coast Highway. Built by the late Orlando J. Aliberti and designed by the famous Architect Harry Gesner, both brilliant men with visionary thinking. Seen jetting out from the hillside, above La Costa beach, this house is often referred to as the 'boat House', the 'Viking House' or the 'Pagoda House', but Harry Gesner named the original built in 1955 'Eagle's Watch' due to the incredible 360 degree views of Malibu’s most jaw dropping canyons and seascapes. A cast bronze eagle sculpture is installed on the outer point of the property to commemorate the name of the house. Unlike the properties on the beachfront, Eagle’s Watch has the best panoramic view in Malibu from Santa Monica pier to Catalina to Malibu pier and Point Dume; the view in every direction is simply stunning.
Although the silhouette of the structure is initially most striking, this house is filled with unique design features. One theme throughout the home is the opulent use of rare granite and marble imported from Italy, covering some bathrooms from the floor to ceiling as well as being used in the large, gourmet kitchen and around the two fireplaces. Hardwood floors with decorative inlay work are used throughout the home. Another truly unique feature is the 180-foot incline private elevator or funicular. Also imported from Italy, this glass funicular gracefully takes you from street level to high above the rest of the homes where you are quietly isolated on the beautiful ridge-top.

The view from Eagle's watch is difficult to put in words, and even photos don't do it justice. Every room and every side of the house have panoramic views with no obstructions. The patios and lawn area that surround the house each have a special vantage point of Malibu. Glass railings along the front of the house assure that the ocean view is clear. A dramatic waterfall welcomes you as you exit the funicular and accents the back patio and outdoor cooking area. High ceilings and large windows maximize the views from inside the house.

It is 8 mile from Santa Monica, 3 miles to the large shopping area in Malibu, walking distance to the beach and a handful of delicious restaurants, and the Post Office is a block away as well.
