An absolutely terrific property!! We are a group of eight women who have rented this gorgeous Lake Phalen Place several times. Each time we return, we remark how perfect it is… Spacious. Quiet. Great beds. The kitchen is so well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, tea kettle, coffee appliances, even crock pots. The living room, kitchen, and dining room have plenty of seating for all of us. The location is so very lovely. Walks around the lake are a bonus, as well as the beautiful view, especially at sunset. More importantly the hosts are amazing! Thank you, Bill and Sakouna!!! We shall return!

Very well-maintained property. This may be the nicest property that faces Lake Phalen. Enjoyed the lake views from the kitchen inside dining and outside front patio. Several guests took advantage of the paved trails that circle the lake.Eight aunts, uncles, cousins appreciated us renting a central space to visit and rendezvous before and after wedding festivities. This was a great location to get in and out of downtown St. Paul and surrounding area. Uber to Mall Of America and the State Fair were reasonably priced. William was always responsive to the messaging through the Vrbo application from the date booked through following the stay. When the Mr. Coffee maker quit, William quickly responded and had a new one delivered within hours.Highly recommend if you need a fair amount of space for a reunion or if you just want a large space for yourself and spouse.

What a gorgeous home! The check-in was easy, kitchen was fantastic, bedrooms and mattresses were comfy, and the whole home was full of lovely, clean spaces. We enjoyed walking along the lake path, and got to the Lake Phalen beach one evening, which the kids loved. An afternoon trip to Stillwater was a highlight, especially eating at the German restaurant there which was tucked away in the woods. Of course, an evening at the mall of America was fun for all. A favorite spot was El Burrito market, about 15 minutes away, where you can take out all sorts of premade Mexican items like tamales, at least a dozen kinds of salsa, tres leche cakes in various flavors and much more. The Mississippi Market is a wonderful food co-op closer to the home and it’s a treat as well! Swede Hollow Café is a favorite spot for coffee and decadent breakfasts and lunches. Minnehaha Falls is a great spot to visit too.

Lake Phalen Jun 2025

Booked for VRBO for 11 people well in advance. Only had 6 there but the house was amazing. Everything we needed was there. Place was immaculate and provided us an opportunity to have an amazing time. Thank you again!

I will definitely stay here again as we are now in laws to our new daughter’s family. This is a must

Clean and roomy

Great location and beautiful lake view. Big kitchen fully stocked with all the things we needed for a family get together. Also loved the large living room with warm fireplace. Everything was super clean.

College friends for 58 years!

We knew that this extremely clean home would be amazing, as we have rented it before - a dream kitchen, lots of comfortable seating for a big group, spacious bedrooms, wonderful beds, great bathrooms, super location (love walking around the lake), and most of all, an excellent host. We cannot recommend it highly enough. We shall return!

Great Family Get Together

We had enough room for our entire family, and it was GREAT! We have a son, here with us in the Rochester area who brought his wife and 2 children out, a son in Apple Valley who has 2 children and our daughter who also lives in the Minneapolis area. I also have a sister in the area who was able to come out and join us for dinner one evening. There was plenty to do around the area which kept us all busy. And the big TV screen was GREAT to catch up on the Olympics in the evenings. THANKS for letting us borrow your beautiful house!!

Great for our family

This was a great property. I disagreed with a previous reviewer who said this was not good for small children. We had a two year old in a five-year-old and this was perfect for all of our family. Everything was available to us inside the house they had a well-stocked kitchen. Check in process was great. We had one little issue and it was taken care of immediately. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location

Beautiful large home. Wonderful location near expansive park and trails. We stayed with our 2 young adult children, was a great place to have their cousins come visit and hang out.

Great location, comfortable &clean

Close to Minneapolis/St Paul locations. Comfortable for a family gathering with plenty of room. Very clean with everything we needed. It was a wonderful weekend.

Read before you book – not good for young families

The home is beautiful&spacious but wish I had read old reviews. The house is good for groups, but renters make it hard for groups. Home is not good for young families. Where you’re told to park does not match where you can actually park. You’re allowed to park in a small part of the driveway – while most of the driveway must stay open for owners. You are asked not wear shoes in the house to preserve the floors. This was offputting as the first thing you see when you arrive. Owners live on site. I asked before & rental company skirted my question. We were not comfortable because we were walking on eggshells the whole time. The host set up the dining room for tea w/ china. While I appreciated the idea, not great for us w/ 2 young kids. We had to put up the decor and china on our own, hoping we didn’t break anything. It was not clear how much of the property we could enjoy. One night, the owners had a fire pit going in the yard, which made us feel like we could only be inside. I didn’t like that the owners had the option to come into the house. While they did not – or we did not see them in the house, we could also not trust that they were not in the house while we were not there. We never felt like we had privacy. We felt nickle and dimed in our reservation. My 1 and 6 year old counted towards guests & we had to pay for 3 other guests who didn’t stay at the rental the entire time. Thankfully, we used it as a place to sleep, and were out and about. Will not stay again.

Nice home by Lake

The location was very close to downtown St.Paul. The walking path around the lake was very nice. The accommodations worked out well.

family holiday gathering

Adult family that got together for holiday weekend. Hosted dinner for 8 adults. Plenty of space. Close proximity to everything that we wanted to do. Nice having lake and walking trail to stretch legs.

Spacious and Clean!

My family and I loved staying at this house. Eight of us spent nine days over Christmas at this property, and it was a perfect setting for our family holiday. The home is spacious and clean, and there are trails around Lake Phalen right outside the front doorstep. We will stay here again!

Reunion Escape

The accommodations of this home were perfect for our reunion group of longtime friends from all over the country. Spacious rooms made everyone comfortable. Walking around the lake and spending time on the patio were most enjoyable. Grocery and convenience stores were nearby, and the driving time to the many sights, museums and restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul were good. A day spent in Stillwater, MN was delightful This particular location is easily accessible from the airport.

Lovely home on Phalen Lake

Clean, spacious, pretty. Great location for our family which enjoys being outside. Big yard, nice patio, and great running trail. We enjoyed the zoos, parks, and children’s museum.

Great property in a great location

This was a great location for us to hold a week-long family reunion. Its proximity to the lake was wonderful, as it allowed the older members to sit outside and watch the sunrise and allowed the younger members to go swimming at least every day. It was also easily drivable to lots of restaurants and attractions in the area. The bedrooms were great and there were plenty of bathrooms for the entire crew. The ground floor master was perfect for the mobility-challenged guests. The only snag was that the air conditioner did not work for the first twelve hours when we arrived during a record heat wave, which made for an unpleasant night, but the management was easy to deal with and the problem was resolved by morning. Overall, we loved our stay and definitely recommend this property!
