Skouloufia, a beautiful traditional village of Crete, is located 17km southeast of Rethymno and is only a few-minute drive from the beach. The village is the ideal base to explore the many historical and natural attractions of the region.
The area has historical monuments from the Byzantine era and the Venetian occupation, like a fountain built by the Turks, with an inscription in Arabic. In the village we find old Byzantine churches, with ornate carvings and a complex of well-preserved buildings from the Venetian era.The ancient city of Eleftherna and the historic Monastery of Arkadi are approximately 5km away, while the traditional village of Margarites is about 12km away.
