While we do try to keep batteries refreshed, it turns out the Firestick remote needed new ones. Our next guests actually figured that out before I did and popped them in. Wish you had given us a shout about that and we could have had you up and running lickety-split. Thanks!

In that I am unaccustomed to receiving negative reviews and since there are so very many inaccuracies in this one, I do feel compelled to respond. We have had many guests staying from three to nine months in this unit, including professionals working from home. There is a dining table to work at, and also a desk in the living room. Some guests may prefer a dedicated office space and those folks would, in all likelihood, book elsewhere and not wind up at mine, as it does not have a separate office nor does it advertise one. Never before or since has there been any issue with TV reception. Comcast came timely and addressed the Wifi connection and the guests said it was good. There have been no problems with it since. Re the “soft bed”... My reviews (and they are many) consistently speak to the exceedingly comfortable beds. My guests didn’t say anything about this issue during their stay; while it is not possible to remedy a problem if it is not communicated, we have replaced the queen mattress with a stellar new one since, just in case. We are really focused on comfort and quality and homeyness and a creating a sense of ease and welcome, and we have gotten consistently positive feedback on that front for going on a decade now. The information sheet is always a good thing to read so one can get to the proper entry door. It’s chock full of other useful info, too--pragmatic matters tailored for our guests’ convenience. It was clear on arrival that these guests not only hadn’t read the info packet but had also not read the property listing details carefully and should really have booked something else more appropriate for their needs. The gate can break in big winds so it should be latched. Bicycles have a designated access area in which to be parked and locked. Guests should ask the host to be directed to that area when bringing bicycles rather than dragging them up and shackling them to the porch rail (which also blocks easy access to the upstairs unit). I will need to repaint the steps, but I’m good at that. The yard is for guests to enjoy. I almost never use it, so it becomes an area for the nearly exclusive use of guests. I am happy to offer it and always happy to run into guests enjoying it. Seeing these guests were not enjoying their stay, I did offer them the option to find another place and to refund them a balance with two-week notice to allow for re-renting. They did not take me up on this. Instead, weeks and weeks went by and when I followed up to ask if they were going to book elsewhere, they said no. I was later informed they had Covid and had made flight reservations to go home early. Between sick time, quarantine time and recovery time, there was not time for a re-rental of the unit. Per CDC guidelines, there just wasn’t an adequate period remaining for a clear and Covid-free space and a proper sanitation process to ensure the safety of both cleaners and incoming guests. These guests arrived unhappy and their mood stayed in that vein. I think this was perhaps just a bad fit. This was a most unfortunate experience for all of us. Please read our other 67 reviews.
