We have been renting houses for vacations for years and decided to spend this year's vacation on Cape Cod. We had 3 adults and 3 teens/pre-teens and brought our own bikes and kayaks. The house worked out very nicely for us. The rooms are larger than we expected and there are lots of bed options. The living areas and kitchen are nicely furnished and stocked with the accessories I had expected.
Bournes Pond ended up being a shallow salt water pond which connects to the ocean at the nearby beach. With the kayaks we were easily able to paddle the length of the pond, paddle under the bridge at the beach, and get out to open ocean. The pond is beautiful with lots of wildlife to watch. The bottom of the pond is murky so I was happy that I had brought along swim shoes when putting the boats in and out of the water.
My kids had fun fishing from both the shore and our boats, catching small crabs in a nearby inlet, and catching dozens of minnows using a minnow trap we had brought.
There is lots to do nearby. The house is in a very quiet cul-de-sac but it is quite close to both the beach and Rt 28, which is a main road on The Cape. We went to the beach several times, got ice cream, visited Falmouth Center, went to the museums at Woods Hole, and took the bikes on the bike trail from Falmouth Center out to Woods Hole.
Overall the house and location were great for our Cape Cod adventure.
Note that we figured out at the last minute (by reading a review) that we needed to bring our own linens. I had expected linens to be included with this house. If renters are expected to bring linens this needs to be made clear in the listing. Traveling to The Cape and then not having sheets would have been disappointing.
