We enjoyed a lovely stay at this beautiful property. The home was spacious and had an old world charm, while still providing updated rooms and amenities. The landscaped yard with pool created our private oasis on a hill with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, and the lush valley below us. A short 10 minute drive down the hill to Castellammare del Golfo, for shopping and dining, made this villa’s location great for a quiet home base. Fabiola and Guilano were very nice hosts, and responsive to our inquiries. Wonderful overall.

I'll preface this review by say that we stay in vacation homes two to three times per year, and have for the last 25 years or more. This property, we feel, is the best one EVER. The villa is gorgeous, a restored treasure from the 1700s (be sure to ask the host about its history). It has been modernized without losing any of the historic charm. The grounds have been beautifully landscaped and its position on the mountainside gives 360 degree amazing views. And the infinity pool? Just perfect! It's located within easy reach of ancient historical sites and towns, grocery stores, and more. The hosts were communicative without being intrusive, even coming to our rescue when our car battery died one morning. Very clean, very comfortable inside and out. Thank you, Giuliano and Fabiola, for a most memorable stay in Sicily. (And to Nicola, for rescuing our dead car battery!)

We loved the villa from the moment we walked through the gate into the beautiful garden. The villa was comfortable, really well equipped and the pool was fantastic. All in all it was a perfect place for our family holiday. A great location, very peaceful, super relaxing and lots to do locally. A wonderful find. A big thank you to our hosts, you were amazing.

This is truly an amazing property! The villa and pool are so beautiful you will not want to leave! Communication with the host was great and we absolutely loved staying here. We cooked amazing food using the kitchen and outdoor charcoal bbq. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Very nice Villa in Castel mare del Golfo

The villa is perfect and is spacious enough for around 8 people. The Pool area is beautiful and well maintained. The villa has everything one might need and the hosts are very nice. The only slight issue is the road leading up to the villa which is quite rough.

Property is absolutely lovely peaceful, private with amazing views. Very spacious with plenty of different seating areas. Good size pool although extremely cold this time of year. Definitely need a car as remote location, access road is very lumpy and bumpy.

The Good:The house, grounds, and pool are beautiful. The Bad: We had to meet the host at a random restaurant before they would give us the address. Weird start for sure and made us all feel uncomfortable. The house did not have enough towels or sheets, and when I asked if they could please provide sheets for all the beds, I was told unfortunately no. Seriously, after spending thousands of dollars- they can’t even give us sheets for all the beds- which were TERRIBLE. Old, worn out with springs poking you in the ribs- one of our couples actually checked into a hotel to get a good nights sleep elsewhere. Also, the lady who mentioned in an earlier review about the bevy of rats outside was correct- all the large rocks lining the back of the house are full of rats. Kind of takes away the joy of cooking on the BBQ…when they start coming out in the evening. Also, there are threats of being charged 100 more if we didn’t separate all our trash (and put it down at the road- way down a dirt road) at the correct time each day. They also threatened to charge 50 if we didn’t leave all the dishes clean. The cleaners arrived at about 9:55 (they just showed up in the driveway) on the check out day for our 10a checkout. Felt awkward that they couldn’t wait to at lesser let us leave before showing up- we left at 10:01!

Amazing Views

Great pool and outside areas, so relaxing to sit outside every day and enjoy the views and the pool, Driveway was somewhat challenging and could use some trimming of the bushes along the drive. The upstairs bath was shared by 2 bedrooms and ceiling was a little low and had a few bumped heads. Overall a beautiful place to stay and would recommend as a central place to stay and explore the area,

Fellow Travelers Beware: Do Not Rent This Spot

While this is a beautiful setting amid olive groves and the pool is in a majestic setting, I unfortunately cannot recommend this spot to fellow travelers and I hope that others will not go through all the headaches and annoyances, big and small, that we experienced. Before renting, I emailed Fabiola to ask about the a/c and the interne; she said they were both worked well. Upon our arrival, while she was very detailed about the garbage (which we appreciated) she never checked or explained about the air conditioning. Of course, when we went to turn on a unit in a bedroom it was not functioning. Turns out, the whole system was down . While the service people they sent were able to fix it, they triggered the alarm to the home, which went off for about 20 mins. They obviously had not checked the system. While the house was very clean, it appeared that the cleaners had been rushed as they left supplies, including sponges and garbage bags. When my adult son and I arrived (prior to another family) we unfortunately noticed that the house was NOT stocked with paper towels, hand soap,. sponges (we found those left absent-mindedly in a plastic bag on the couch), extra toilet paper, laundry detergent, olive oil, salt and pepper... . The only item left for us were 3 wrinkled lemons. My son and I unfortunately had to make a long list of staples and spent 3 hours doing a major market run to get the house stocked up properly. I had just arrived from the US 3 days prior and could imagine having to spend my vacation getting bars of soap for each bathroom and toilet paper. When we began to make dinner that first nights, we saw that the device provided to light the oven in the kitchen had run out of fuel. As we were not going to be able to make breakfast without a flame, Fabiola did drop off another ignitor that night. Again, this nuisance could have been avoided had they properly checked these critical items. We also did not have oven mitts or dish towels, 2 other items she dropped that first night. That first night, we tried to BBQ and as we were eating outside, we noticed a bevy of RATS in the yard near the BBQ. When we texted, F. said that was part of nature. We had trouble with the internet and one of the a/c units in the bedroom stopped working and our friends got no sleep that night. When we asked where the swim towels were, we were told that we could rent a towel for 3 euros per person for the week. This place could be so much better.

Sicilian paradise

Tasteful and functional villa with gorgeous grounds, lovely pool, and sweeping, magnificent views over the valley and out to the sea. Perfectly private and peaceful--no neighbors, and the house is the furthest up on the hill so there's no one to look down on you. Fabiola is highly responsive and went to great lengths to successfully resolve a few issues that were entirely beyond her control. Highly recommend for a lovely holiday.

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children just spent an amazing week at this property in Sicily and it was perfect!!! The location is ideal, with the exception of a few more towels everything was perfect and could not have been better. Great beaches, scenery, accommodations, and a pool that was spectacular and clean!! We all loved it and can't wait to return!! Absolutely perfect!

The pictures of this property cannot do it justice. I stayed there with my family ( 2 parents, 3 teenage kids) for 10 days. The location is perfect for exploring western and central Sicily with loads of interesting things to see and plenty of lovely restaurants. As for the property, its simply beautiful; fresh, airy, with magnificent views and perfectly maintained garden and pool. Its not overlooked and is one of the most tranquil and peaceful locations we've ever stayed in. lying in the pool at 8am in total peace was so relaxing. Fabiola is a wonderful host who maintains a fantastic house and was professional and friendly to deal with before and during our trip. Do yourself a favour, book this house, you'll not be disappointed! Best house we've stayed in from HomwAway after using this site for several years. Thank you Fabiola!
