Wonderful holiday in Tuscany

We had a wonderful time in this very nice property. Many thanks to Franco and Patrizia for their kindness and hospitality. A beautiful rural location, but a good point from which to visit various towns and cities.

We had a wonderful stay! A truly authentic home away from home in the heart of Tuscany! Franco and family were the perfect hosts! Franco very kindly accommodated a very late arrival because of airport and car rental delays and he treated us to a fantastic visit to his cellar, wine tasting and treats and stories of local insights. Highly recommend a visit here! We hope to visit again

Cottage in the Tuscan Countryside

The hosts are incredible - especially Franco who shared a bottle of his family’s wine and tour of his cellar and chapel. There were a few comfort items that were not available at other rentals but it was early in the season and they had just reopened the apartment to guests. They were quick to provide us with anything we requested. The weather was exceptionally cold and rainy so the hosts delivered several baskets of firewood to keep us cozy. The apartment is very convenient to many wineries and nearby hilltop towns. Great rental! Thank you!

Wonderful authentic Tuscany apartment

We were very impressed with the authentic Tuscany apartment. The apartment had everything needed in the kitchen for easy cooking. The owners are very easy to get in touch with via phone or email. The hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed very much a typical dinner including courses of the locally made wines. We particularly enjoyed the easy access(15 minutes) to the train station at Castelfiorentino , with 1 hour trip to Florence, 3 hours to Venice, 45 minutes to Siena . Also day trips to several wineries with 10 minutes or less via car were enjoyed! The old towns of San Gimignano, Volterra, Monteriggioni, and Certaldo were awesome, but you need to have a car. Finally, the rows of grapes and olive trees wrapping all the hills all around you is what Tuscany is all about for me!

A Little Slice of Heaven

Borgo dei Catolingi is an amazing property with every wish fulfilled. The history of the house - a former convent, I believe - with an ancient wine cellar and beautiful chapel, awed us during our stay. But added to that is a beautiful pool with a view of the Tuscan country-side, jasmine covered walls shading the patio, fresh herbs available for use, and a charming and attentive host. Franco sent me to an excellent shoe-maker when my walking sandals let go of a strap - averting a disaster! When we visited his cellar, we sang and laughed and tasted amazing ice wine. No property we have ever rented treated us so well - and we have been in some excellent ones. I hesitate to write the review as I would like to keep the secret of this amazing place!

Lovely Accomodation

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in this lovely two bedroom apartment. The accommodation has a large comfortable living room to relax with a glass of wine. The kitchen is outfitted well with glassware, tableware and cookware. We cooked in several nights of our stay. There is a large grocery coop about a ten minute drive away. We chose this accomodation as we felt it would be an easy drive to several cities we wanted to visit: Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano,Siena. We also went to two wineries around Grieves. Our hosts were very welcoming and quickly responded to any questions we had. They also generously took us on a tour of their beautiful chapel, and amazing wine rooms. And we had the most delicious tray of homemade sweets! They are truly the nicest people and it was lively to spend time with them. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet comfortable accomodation in the middle of the tuscany region.

Dream stay in Tuscany

Franco and Patrizia gave us a warm welcome and local bottle of Chianti immediately after parking while showing us all that we needed to know about the apartment. It is a lovely traditional Tuscan home with comfortable beds and linens, 3 fans, and the most beautiful views of grape vines, olive trees and the Tuscan hills! Patrizia brought us grapes from their vines one evening and traditional Tuscan treats 2 other evenings. Franco invited us to the wine cellar for glasses of various wine and showed us antiques from the World Wars, tools, etc. We had a wonderful discussion even though we did not speak each other’s language! It was priceless. I highly recommend their home! Do pack insect repellent. My husband and I were both covered in bites after the first couple of days. The repellent we purchased worked thank goodness but we had to have it on even in the house. The residence was professionally sprayed the day before we left which seemed to help. Mosquitoes were just about everywhere we went.

Nous avons été excrément bien accueilli par Patricia et Franco dans leur magnifique maison de famille. L’appartement est très grand avec une jolie terrasse privée et un accès direct à la piscine avec une superbe vue sur la campagne Toscane. Nous avons été ravis de notre séjour.

Une semaine de rêve!

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine : le logement est bien équipé, très propre, la literie de bonne qualité et détail important en été, il garde bien la fraîcheur. On s'y sent comme à la maison. La terrasse couverte, très agréable, donne sur une cours et le reste de la propriété, puis la piscine (sécurisée par des barrières). Le tout est très bien entretenu par les propriétaires qui sont d'une très grande gentillesse. Quant à la localisation, elle est parfaite pour pouvoir rayonner en Toscane : San Gimignano (30 min), Florence (45 min), SIenne (50 min), Volterra, (40 min), etc. Nous recommandons vraiment ce lieu et nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

CA SENT BON LA TOSCANE !!!

Idéalement située au cœur de la Toscane, accès facile pour les principaux villages et dans le Triangle Sienne/Voltera/Florence. L'appartement est très grand, vraiment on se sent bien dans l'ambiance, au calme, au frais. La piscine pour se rafraichir et se détendre, et une belle terrasse pour profiter. Franco et Patrizia sont supers, toujours prêts à aider, et faire partager des moments sympas. On y retournera c'est sûr !! Gros bisous à eux.

Séjour en Toscane

Nous avons passé de très belles vacances! L'appartement est situé au milieu des vignes et des oliviers, mais à proximité de tous les centres d'intérêts. Les propriétaires, Franco et Patricia, sont charmants et très accueillants. Ils étaient aux petits soins. Je vous conseille vivement cet endroit!

Magnifique séjour en Toscane

Absolument parfait ! Très agréable séjour dans un cadre superbe, avec un excellent accueil des propriétaires. Idealement placé pour découvrir la Toscane ! Piscine rafraîchissante après les excursions. Tout y est !

A piece of heaven

We enjoyed our 2 weeks stay in the apartment a lot. As the apartment was meant for the children of the proprietor, you have the layout of a “real” apartment and not something optimised for a rental investment. A big kitchen we loved, as we love cooking – specially in Italy with everything fresh from the market. A real sitting room where you could spend quite evenings with the family. And the two sleeping and bath rooms made our stay very comfy. The bedding was on the positive site (even if the matrasses were for us a little on the hard side – but we have soft ones at home). Also, you had your pick from different pillows to find the one you really like. In addition, you have a loggia, where having breakfast is a must, and shared court with a BBQ. The swimming pool is just 10m away. But as there are few apartments for rent, noise or space at the pool was never an issue. The surrounding is also very quiet, as the settlement is kind of a dead end. But you might appreciate the noise of the guy bringing fresh bread in the morning – right in time for us as we are no early birds. Daily shopping you can do in Gambassi Terme where you find, upon others, a good butcher and a “BIO”-shop. Bigger supermarkets are a 15min drive away. Coming to Patricia and Franco, the proprietors. A very nice couple, sharing the knowledge of the history and daily life in the surrounding with you. On arrival the welcome is hearty one. We had also the pleasure to spend the first evening with them in Gambassi, as there was the local “Parpadelle Cinghiale” – an event we would have missed without them taking us there. A visit to Franco’s wine cellar was often mentioned, but it is worth to be mentioned again – the Vin Santo we took with us will remind us with every sip of our stay. When we had to leave it was kind of leaving home – we rarely had this feeling in a holiday apartment. When going back to Tuscany, the apartment will surely be our first choice for a stay in the area.

Parfait

Deuxième séjour et toujours le même plaisir et la même envie de revenir. Pour nous habitants d’une grande ville le rythme de la campagne toscane est vraiment dépaysant. Le logement est vraiment parfait et la gentillesse de l’accueil vraiment exceptionnelle. Merci pour tout.

A taste of heaven

I can’t say enough about this property. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was quintessential Tuscany. We were welcomed by the kindest couple bringing homemade wine and treats. The house is cuteness personified, really gave the flavor of the area. The stunning blooming jasmine and other flowers made it a taste of heaven to sit on the porch or soak in the view from the pool. We didn’t want to leave!

Epitome of Tuscan charm with all the comforts of home

My sister and I spent 4 nights here and wished we could have stayed longer. We were greeted by Nicolette and her mother Patrizia ...so warm and engaging making sure we knew all we needed to about their home. We were greeted with a bottle of Chianti made by her father, Franco . The home was so comfortable and we were just thrilled with the views and authenticity of the home. Morning tea on the back patio was a personal favorite . It was a great jumping off point to Pisa, Lucca, Cortona, Volterra and more. We then met Franco....he showed us the chapel and wine cellar and treated us to some wonderful tastings. Though he spoke little English, and we very little Italian, we talked for an some time sharing stories about our lives. We cannot wait to come back!!! Sehr schöne Ferienwohnung mit Pool

Wir haben in einer sehr gemütlichen und großen Wohnung mit toller Terasse und schönem Pool gewohnt. Die Wohung ist sehr sauber. Die Vermieten sind sehr nett und sehr gastfreundlich. Das Ferienhaus liegt auf einem toskanischen Hügel mit toller Aussicht. Florenz, Siena und Pisa lassen sich gut mit dem Auto erreichen. Wir werden wohl nochmal hinfahren.

Schöne Ferien in schöner Umgebung

Sehr schönes, grosses Appartment, in typisch charmantem toskanischem Styl mit wunderschöner, gemütlicher Loggia. Die Gastgeber Franco und Patrizia sind sehr gastfreundlich und warmherzig. Alles war Perfekt, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. (Einzig die vielen Mücken, die störten uns gewaltig, doch dafür kann der Gastgeber nichts :-)))) Es hat uns trotzdem sehr, sehr gut gefallen.:-)

Schöne toskanische Wohnung in toller Lage

Wir als 4-köpfige Familie haben die 1 Woche sehr genossen, weil wir uns in der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Die beiden Gastgeber Franco und seine Frau sind sehr gastfreundlich und werden alles tun, dass sich ihre Gäste wohlfühlen. Trotz sprachlicher Schwierigkeiten klappte die Verständigung gut, und wir spürten bei den beiden jederzeit ihre ehrlich gemeinte Gastfreundschaft. Die Wohnung selbst hat viel Charme und ist im rustikalen toskanischen Stil eingerichtet. Es mangelt an nichts. Und falls doch helfen die Gastgeber gerne weiter. Aufgrund der trotz ländlicher Idylle sehr zentralen Lage sind viele Städte mitbedenkt Auto leicht erreichbar. So waren wir in den 7 Tagen viel unterwegs und waren trotzdem immer wieder froh in unsere schöne Unterkunft mit gemeinschaftspool zurück zu kommen.
