This unique and charming 1947 cabin boasts original hardwood floors, exterior walls crafted from trees on the property, and nearly three generations of character and historical touches. Located only a few hundred feet from Camp Rockmont, the site of the popular LEAF Festival, Carrie's Escape provides a private but convenient home base for exploring Western North Carolina.

Carrles escape was a great little cabin with a great view of the mountains! The only downside was the neighbors! In either side of the house there are neighbors which are located down the mountain a little. You can’t see them from the house, but their dogs barked a lot. Besides that, the cabin was super clean and well maintained. The host were quick to answer any questions I had and even sent someone out within a couple of hours to fix the internet. The cabin was cozy and the indoor fireplace kept us warm and made us feel right at home.

Great Place - Great Stay

Carrie's Cabin was really amazing - maybe the best VRBO we have ever gotten. The beds were comfy, sheets great, towels aplenty, kitchen perfect, grounds were exceptional. Just can't say enough about this place. We will definitely be back.

Excellent!

Great location for the LEAF festival! Very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the fire pit and front porch. Very private and quiet with beautiful view of the mountains. Some wild turkeys showed up in the back yard. So fun!

The space was great as was the amenities offered(very thorough). Sleeping was comfortable. Family visited and also enjoyed. However, the front entrance was rather uneven and difficult to maeuver for us, being seniors.

We love Granny & Pa's Cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our second year staying in this cabin and we have been so happy with our stay both times. It has a cozy feel but is also spacious for our three families. We enjoyed hiking in the woods and walking around Black Mountain. The Dynamite coffee shop is close by and a great option for good coffee and a relaxing atmosphere. The grounds are also nice for playing outside. The kids enjoyed collecting pine cones and going on "expeditions" in the woods. In the evening we enjoyed reading and doing puzzles by the wood stove. We will be back next year for sure!

Great place and location

We really enjoyed staying here and would come back. Really great setup where it list 3 bedrooms with 4 beds. However there is actual a 4th bedroom that has the 4th bed, small put it worked well. The view is awesome during the day and night time under the stars. The fire pit ads a great touch. The location is very close to downtown Black Mountain. However there are no close grocery stores we found and breakfast out can get expensive. During the winter time you will want to leave your master room and the bedroom at the opposite end bedroom open at night out your room may get very cold. The TV Wi-Fi isn't the best but we use mirror screening from our phone. But if goes out just simple reset the router and wait a couple of minutes and you should be good to go. The kitchen is well stocked with items. There are towels, rags and a roll of toilet paper and hand towels. However you may consider to bringing more if you will be there any length of time. Location is very convenient to Ashville or to head towards Grandfather Mountain. We look forward to coming back.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It is hard for me to write this review from this past weekend. Our first encounter was 2 black cows standing by the steps. After shewing them away (which we thought was funny) we made it to the front the porch which looked like it had never been swept. The the broom was standing in the corner as if to say "you can sweep the porch". Once in the house we discovered there was no toilet tissue so we had to go back to the store to purchase some. Then we spent the evening trying to connect to DirecTV with no success. After calling our daughter for assistance she suggested we call your on call person. We did and she was absolutely wonderful and did everything she could to help to no avail. So the whole time we were there we had no TV! We tried to take a walk out side only to find there is poison ivy growing everywhere in the yard (front and back) so we stayed in as I am very allergic to this plant. I have used your rentals before and can't say enough good about all the administrative staff. I do feel because I paid over $500 for this rental I should be reimbursed some of my money back. Also, you might want to consider letting that rental property go as It lacks a lot compared to your other properties. Again, I can't say enough, how kind the on call person was to us. Hi Joyce - sounds like there were some interesting aspects to your stay! I am so sorry for the television difficulties. I understand that Renee was on-call and came over and attempted to help with the Roku (which was recently substituted from DirectTV), though with no luck. There is a binder in home that gives instructions on how to operate the Roku that was added before your stay. Sorry also for the poison ivy - this is the first time we've heard a complaint regarding this. Though toilet paper is sometimes present at the homes, but our standard procedure is to leave it to our guests to purchase their own supply for their stay. Again, I'm very sorry for the issues that you encountered during the do hope that there were some enjoyable aspects to your time with us and hope that you return to stay with Greybeard - we'd love to welcome you back to a home that may better suit your desired amenities, a yard without poison ivy, etc.
