Wonderful space for work and vacation

Perfect place for our work group and family to stay. Located right downtown and within a short walk to everything. Place is well appointed for several families, private rooms for everyone: worked out wonderfully for all of us!

Very nice property

Had a great time in the house, the birds are amazing and the property itself is so quirky with a lot of very interesting pieces and is perfectly situated. I would stay again without any problem.

All in one, with unmatched views

Cook, wash clothes, work, watch TV or just use the place to sleep, wash and store your belongings as you enjoy the streets of Saumur or the Val de Loire.The apartments are spacious, full of charm and offer everything a tourist needs - far more than most need.Parking is plentiful nearby, if one persists in looking - should never need to park more than a minute walk from the property.We were well supported through the process by our host. I am sure, had we needed more advice or support during our stay, it would have been offered as freely and gladly as all that was provided to us.Great spot, full of charm and quirkiness.

Beautiful Apartment

Gilles's apartment is every bit as beautiful as the photos suggest. It is right in the heart of lovely Saumur. Our whole family was grateful and enchanted by both the town and the apartment; and the accommodations were practically convenient as well as charming. Mme Charles, the property manager, was very helpful.

Three weeks of delight

We had a very relaxing 3 weeks' vacation. The apartment was fantastic. We had everything we needed. Gilles was always available and attentive to our needs. The apartment is beautiful and the views are fantastic. We loved Saumur and also took day trips to area castles and other sites. We ate at great restaurants in Saumur and loved shopping at the Saturday market. We would certainly go back!

What a wonderful week we had in our gite. Views galore, incredible antiques and atmosphere, green plants and AC. Our beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed. Also location was great, with resturants galore, castle view and shopping. We 5 were extremely happy. Thanks for the the wonderful stay. LaDawn

Travel France

There were 5 of us visiting for a visit to the Loire Valley before Paris. The place was fantastic; it was like living in a castle. It was beautiful and comfortable. It was a great base for visiting wineries and chateaus. I didn’t get to meet our host as he was away on business, but he stayed in contact and his wife was lovely to work with. There are stairs involved but this is Europe and there are stairs everywhere. I would go back there if I ever return.

Beautiful, large apartment in Saumur

The apartment is perfectly located on the Loire river with views of the river, Chateau and surrounding town. The building is historic so has some quirks you'd expect in an updated apartment - the bathrooms and kitchen are small, but well equipped - and the beautiful furnishings, large living and dining areas and location are unparalleled. The apartment could sleep 10 easily but it was wonderfully roomy for 4 couples. I highly recommend this apartment and would stay again if I go back to Saumur.

Great stay in an old worldatmosphere

Gilles, Was a gracious host. He was restoring another building behind this one and was always ready to answer any questions we had.The apartment is very big with 5 bedrooms that can sleep up to11 people. It has vewiews of the Loire river and the Chateau and is close to the center of Saumur. Lots of things to do in Saumur and the Loire valley. A lot of stairs but there is an elevator. We spent 9 days and had a good time !

Spectacular property

We loved the property. The 2 floors are very spacious with the common areas full of stunning antiques. It has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The view of the Saumur Chateau is breathtaking. It is in town, so you can walk to resturants, shops, markets, wine caves, museums as well as the chateau. Mr. Gillies was very helpful making sure we had what we needed and very quick and thorough will all communication. We would stay there again if in the area. We had a wonderful 2 weeks.

Magnificent property, sublime location, charming host

What a place! We enjoyed an unforgettable 10 days in this beautiful place. The position is unbeatable, overlooking the Loire, with postcard views from every window. The chateau perched above made us feel like we were living in a fairytale - we could not stop taking photos!The apartment is spread over the two top floors of a historical building, with a lift for baggage. It is full of quirks and character, with a rambling layout presenting plenty of spaces for socializing or sitting in quiet solitude. This is no bland vacation rental: every room is furnished with original features and antique objects which rivalled those we saw in the local chateaux and museums. We felt privileged to be entrusted with such exquisite surrounds.Saumur itself is delightful; a perfect size and location to enjoy the best of the Loire, with plenty of excellent restaurants within a few steps, wineries and distilleries to visit, and wonderful shopping.Our host Gilles was attentive, responsive and eager to help, with a warm delight at our appreciation of his magnificent place.For anyone seeking an authentic and refined Loire experience, we thoroughly recommend this gem.

Wonderful location in historical building

Very close to lovely old Saumur town center, grocery shopping and sites. Comfortable beds. We liked the authentic tapestries, exposed wood beams and other touches that remind you of the history that surrounds you in this place. Kitchen space and appliances including clothes washer worked well for us. The host Gilles was “très agréable”! For travelers accustomed to easy conveniences there were some adjustments. Full length mirrors would have been helpful as well as a place to be able to sit and use a hair dryer with nearby electrical outlet. Air conditioning was present and worked well in many areas but not as well in a few others. Parking was a challenge at times although some of our stay was over a major holiday weekend. However, for us all of these challenges were offset by things like the beautiful views, the ambiance, the location and the general comfort and space of this place. We would definitely book again and say thank you Gilles so much for your kindness and patience!

Perfect location

Our visit had a bit of a rocky start as the housekeeper was not ready for us. After answering the door buzzer, she said she’d be down tout de suite, but left us waiting on the street for at least ten minutes, if not longer. However, after that less than smooth beginnng the rest of our visit was very nice. The duplex is huge and three of us girlfriends were quite comfortable. It is an excellent location for exploring the Loire Valley. A fine boulangerie is a few doors down and lots of restaurants are close by. The view from the lounge is indeed of the castle and is lovely at night. This is not an apartment to which I would bring children. Lots of hard, uneven surfaces and beams to knock one’s head on. It would also be difficult to keep curious hands away from the numerous antiques. Parking can be a challenge but the restrictions on the paid lot right outside can be worked around with one’s day trips and outings. I can definitely recommend this for your next visit to the region.

Un lugar para no olvidar!!

Hemos pasado 4 noches en familia en una casa excepcional. Bien situada, con maravillosas vistas y un salón con chimenea donde compartir desayunos, cenas y juegos. Nuestros hijos estuvieron en unas habitaciones magníficas en la planta inferior y nosotros muy bien en la de arriba que tiene una magnífica vista sobre el Loira. Tiene ascensor hasta la planta alta así que no hay problema ninguno. Será difícil olvidar estos días en Saumur. El propietario muy atento en todo momento . Enhorabuena Gilles por tener un patrimonio tan bonito . Ojalá que todos los que pasen por ahí lo sepan ver y respetar. Recomendable al máximo!!

Het was heerlijk. Prachtige lokatie. Fantastisch uitzicht. Alles om de hoek. Fietsverhuur, terassen, winkels, gratis parkeren langs de kade aan de overkant. Heerlijke wijnen en proeverijen. Mooie historische omgeving met leerzame momenten. Helaas geen zwembad dichtbij en geen mogelijkheid om in de Loire te zwemmen. Doordat we geen kleine kinderen bij ons hadden was dit geen groot gemis. Voor ons was het Frankrijk zo als je zoekt. Fantastique!

Superb Saumur Property

We stayed here for 4 nights after 4 days cycling along the Loire river. The apartment, over 2 floors, was simply stunning. Amazing views of the Chateau and also of the river and full of interesting stuff. Myself, my 2 brothers and partners had a really relaxing time with the apartment as a fabulous base. I cannot recommend this place enough. The Host, Giles & his wife werereally lovely and on had if needed.

So good we came back again - still as amazing as before

We stayed here in autumn 2021 and were blown away by the space and by the views. We liked it so much that we returned with friends in July 2022, and we are very happy we did. The apartment is spectacular and the views of the river and the chateau are wonderful. M. Gros was always available in case of questions. Lovely apartment, highly recommended.

Très bon séjour

Tout s’est très bien passé. Seul bémol nous voulions faire un feu de cheminée mais celui ci n’est pas compris dans le prix. L’appartement est très agréable, avec beaucoup d’independance Pour chacun. Il est également très bien situé, à côté du château et en plein centre ville. La literie est ultra confortable, l’appartement est très silencieux.
