Autumn getaway

A beautiful and charming place to stay in an amazing setting. It was easy to get to with lots to see and do in the vicinity. The owners were friendly and helpful. It was ideal for this time of the year due to the large open fireplace and the central heating throughout. A place we would certainly return to in the future, and would recommend to anyone.

A Great Week in a Great Location

My wife, daughter and I had a most enjoyable week in this lovely, well equipped Gite set in beautiful surroundings. Our hosts, Isabelle and Eric were delightful and helpful in every way. The surrounding countryside is very beautiful, yet so close to the UK so often overlooked by those heading further west and south down the A16. This Gite is also conveniently located for Le Touquet, Boulogne, Montreuil and the Sept Vallees as well as only 40 minutes from Calais.

WONDERFUL FRANCE

We were apprehensive to visit France. Well, Mr and Mme De Seze have reconciled l'Entente Cordiale. Little surprise on arrival, absolutely charming. Beautiful old French castle. A place to keep secret!

Wonderful stay

We had a great time staying at the gite in the lovely grounds of the chateau. The house is rustic but full of character and we really loved staying there. The grounds were very good for our young children, helped by the fabulous weather we were lucky to have. They enjoyed playing ball games and sitting in the deck chairs enoying their dinner. It was very peaceful. The hosts were also very kind and accommodating and very easy to reach. The beaches in the area are also fabulous. We had lots to do and could have stayed longer. You certainly need a car, but as long as you have that, you are sure to have a great break.

Beautiful location

We had a very enjoyable week in Wierre au Bois. The house has much charm and being situated in the substantial grounds of the Manoir, it was a peaceful place. We were made most welcome by our host, Isabelle. We loved the plage and dunes d’Écault which are about 25 minutes drive away. Boulogne is worth visiting, with a lovely walk on the ramparts and the stunning aquarium, Nausicaá. We also travelled to the Vimy and Ypres areas, each about 1.5 hrs drive away, to visit some 1st world war monuments, cemeteries and interesting visitor centres. This region of France is worth exploring and is very convenient for people travelling from the UK, being close to Calais.

Très belle maison pour rester en famille dans grand jardin du petit chateau avec beaucoup d'intimté. Hôtesse et hôte très aimables.

Haus und Garten sind überwältigend. Wir sind mit vier Kindern angereist und haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Es war genug Platz für alle da, sodass jeder auf seine Kosten gekommen ist. Es ist sehr ruhig, wir haben wunderbar geschlafen. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet. Der Plage d'Ecault ist wunderschön und innerhalb von 20 Minuten erreichbar. Zum nächsten Supermarkt sind es 7 Minuten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Schönes Landhaus in Parkanlage

Sehr nettes Landhaus, viel Platz, bei jedem Wetter gut. Kühl im Inneren, im Winter beheizbar und mit Kamin. Gute Zimmeraufteilung, viele Wasch- und WC-Gelegenheiten, mit Waschmaschine und Spülmaschine. Sehr nette Vermieter, gute Kommunikation und Beratung zu Sehenswürdigkeiten, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten etc. Gerne weiterzuempfehlen!

On attendait mieux

Nous étions six adultes lors de notre séjour. Côté cadre, pour ce gîte il n’y a rien à dire et c’est d’ailleurs ce point qui est mis en avant sur l’annonce. Quant à la maison et son équipement, ce n’est pas la même chose. De la moquette blanche au niveau du premier étage : peut-être pas la meilleure idée… La chambre dans laquelle se trouvent les deux petits lits n’est pas pratique : ATTENTION, les lits mesurent environ 80x190, ce qui est un peu juste pour des adultes et cela n’est pas précisé dans le descriptif. Chambre pour enfants, donc, pas de table de nuit et une seule chaise pour deux. Dans la cuisine, la bouilloire ne fonctionne pas (et ce, bien avant que nous arrivions) et le réfrigérateur n’est pas des plus optimum (il ne refroidissait pas). Il faut dire que sa contenance est trop juste pour six personnes (si bien que les aliments sont entassés) et qu’un bon dégivrage verrait son efficacité augmentée. Petit détail : une notice ou une affichette pour le fonctionnement du micro-ondes serait la bienvenue ; ainsi que du savon liquide dans la salle de bain. Quant à la baignoire, pour éviter d’arroser les alentours, peut-être qu’un pare-douche serait efficace ? Enfin, côté propreté, ce n’était pas nickel. Nous le savons, la présence d’araignées est signe d’une maison saine, mais pour une location, il serait bienvenu d’ôter les toiles et de faire la poussière autour et derrière les meubles. Dommage, car les photos et les commentaires sur le site ainsi que les messages échangés avec la propriétaire, hôte premium, semblaient augurer d’une location sans reproches. Nous n’avons visiblement pas tous le même degré d’exigence ni la même expérience.

We hebben een fijne korte vakantie gehad. Het huisje heeft een mooi uitzicht op het kasteel. De eetkeuken was ruim en voorzien van authentieke details. De bedden waren comfortabel, WiFi was oké.

Schitterend!!

Bijzonder hartelijke ontvangst van Isabelle, rondleiding rondom het prachtige kasteeltje. Heerlijk verblijf in het comfortabele complete huis. Genoten van de enorme tuin. Veel bezienswaardigheden en de schitterende kust op een half uurtje afstand.
