ラウンジには、フラットスクリーンテレビ（フリービュー、DVDプレーヤー付）、快適なレザーソファ、電気木製の火災防止灯があります。 PortreeとCuillins方面を180度見渡せる大きな南向きのコンサバトリーがあります。追加のシーティングエリア、ダイニングテーブルと椅子、景色を楽しんでいる間に奇妙なポストカードを書くためのデスクがあります！ パティオドアは芝生の庭につながります。 大型冷蔵庫、食器洗い機、電子レンジ、電気オーブンを備えた設備の整ったキッチン。

ユーティリティルームにはシンク、洗濯機、アイロン設備が備わっています。 1階のファミリーバスルームにはシャワー付きのバス、W.Cと洗面台があります。 グラウンドフロアには、広々としたツインベッドルームと、W.Cを備えたシャワールーム、洗面台があります。

2階にスーパーキングベッド、洗面台と寝室W.C、2番目のベッドルームにはスーパーキングベッド、1ベッドルームにはダブルベッドルームがあります。 また、2つ目のファミリーバスルームにはシャワー付きバス、トイレと洗面台があります。 ダブルベッドルームをご利用のお客様は、大型の羽毛布団ではなく、シングルベッド2台をご希望の場合は、予約時にお知らせください。 すべてのベッドリネンとタオルが用意されています。

Lovely and spacious cottage in a magnificent surrounding

We had a phantastic stay in Balmacara cottage. The house is very spacious and well equipped with everything you may need. It feels like being at home, just with a much better view. The Isle of Skye was a great location to explore. We enjoyed hiking, and also used the opportunity for a bath in the Hebridian sea.

Lovely Holiday

Perfect location to explore the whole Island. VRBO had the perfect location. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms to get ready. Neighbors are very friendly. Very close to highland COOS :). So much fun we would come back. My only recommendation would be for visitors to book all their dinner locations way in advance. There are not enough resources for the amount of tourists; so please be caring to the locals. You attract more bees with honey.

very nice place in beautiful surrounding

We've had a very nice 2 weeks in the house. The house has almost everything we like: space, beautiful surroundings, peace, quiteness, comfort. Two points of interest concerning the cleanliness we would like to stress: 1. the cooking gear is obsolete. E.g. the cooking pots and saucepans are damaged (the bottom layers were full of scratches) in such a way we bought a new cooking pan 2. at arrival the dustbin was very smelly. But above all it is a beautiful house were you can have a wonderful stay. We would like to come back.

Isle of Sky 15-20 Sept. 2023

This home is an outstanding place to stay for your visit to Isle of Skye. Very spacious and perched on a hill overlooking fields and Portree in the distance. The house is far enough away from the Portree light pollution to afford fantastic views of the stars and Milky Way and very quiet evenings. Portree is only less than 5 minute drive away to you can obtain groceries or partake in the restaurants there. Very easy access to all parts of Skye. Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting Alexander, he was always available by email as required with responses typically within a couple of hours. Fiona, Alexander’s surrogate host who lives across the road made us feel at home during check in and even for afternoon chats when meeting here on the road walking her dog. We highly recommend booking Alexander’s property for a stress free visit of Isle of Skye.

Lovely house in a great location for exploring the north half of Skye.

Our group of six adults had a very enjoyable Hogmanay week in Balmacara Cottage. The house is well equipped for self-catering; the showers are good, the beds are excellent and the kitchen had everything we needed, including a large fridge-freezer. The spacious, south-facing conservatory has a wonderful view across Portree to the Cuillin mountains, which we enjoyed with every breakfast. The house was rather cold when we arrived (having been unoccupied over Christmas), but it was comfortably warm thereafter. Some of the crockery and glassware needed a wash before we used it, but the house was generally clean and tidy throughout. Though the parking area is shared with the neighboring property, there was ample space for our four cars. The house is a great place to relax but also very well situated for anyone wanting to explore the northern half of Skye. Highly recommended.

4 Zimmerhaus mit Blick auf Portree

Ein toller Urlaub. Das Haus war sehr gut, alles was man braucht um einen schönen und entspannten Urlaub zu haben war vorhanden. Sehr nette Gastgeber und Hauskeeping. Auch das Wetter war toll. Wir haben vielgesehen. Ich kann die Insel und die Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen.

Lovely peaceful location with all the comforts of home, then some

Spacious, old house with effective modernization. Had everything we could need for comfort and cooking. Location is on the doorstep of Portree and the north east peninsular of Skye.

Balmacara Cottage. Portree

Good location, quiet with lovely views to the Cuillan mountains. Found roads exceptionally busy and a few inconsiderate drivers. Can be difficult to get a meal in Portree - need to pre book. The cottage was perfect in every sense of the word ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Skye cottage Jul 19-26 2022

Property was ideally located for town trips and easy access to the Trotternish peninsula. It was very clean and communications with the owner and property manager were smooth. The local property manager walked us through the house, how everything worked, etc. The wifi was very intermittent - I was told due to frequent rain and some infrastructure issues dating back to the winter. We had to find an in-town location with wifi (e.g. library) a couple of times for work meetings. No other issues with house. We would stay there again! Dan Hellstrom

Lovely comfortable haven for groups

We loved our stay. House is very comfortable and roomy enough for friends and family to gather. Views out the conservatory are wonderful. Centrally located for all of Skye’s views and hikes. Beds were very comfortable and house has everything you might need. Great place. We will return on our next trip

Fantastic place to stay

This place is very comfortable to stay at. Fantastic views out the back of the city of Portree. Very quick drive into town and we even walked into town one morning. House is very clean even has a washer and dryer so you can do laundry. Only issue was the Wi-Fi would go in and out but your on vacation so that was not a real big issue. Can not recommend this place high enough

Fabulous week in Skye

This was the perfect place for our visit to the Isle. The house is roomy, spotless and situated just the right distance from the village of Portree. Both the owner and the caretaker were in communication with us before and during our arrival. When our flight home was canceled were able to quickly arrange another two nights at Balmacara. Couldn't have asked for better lodgings or more gracious hosts.

Skye Getaway

Great location with a good view just outside Portree. Central point with good access to the rest of the island. Property had everything you could need though we never found out where the hairdryer was. The books on walking in Skye were very handy and got a lot of use.

Einfach Toll

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön und bietet viel Platz für Gruppen zum Entspannen und für gemeinsame Abende. Alles nötige fanden wir vor Ort, uns hat nichts gefehlt. In nicht allzu großer Entfernung finden sich zudem Läden und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Besitzerin ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt! Vielen Dank!

Great Place to Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and clean, and the neighborhood was quiet. The sunroom was our favorite place in the house. We found everything was as advertised, the instructions we received were very clear, and we had no problems while we were there. Overall a very positive experience and I would recommend the home as a great place to stay while you are on Skye.

Amazing base to explore the beautiful Isle of Skye

The whole process from first interest to a lovely message after checking out was a breeze. Easy and pleasant service to use. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely housekeeper who showed us around the house and checked we had everything we needed for our stay, we felt very relaxed and welcomed at Balmacara cottage. Our stay was brilliant we explored the island and after long days out we looked forward to returning to the cottage that felt very homely. All the beds were very comfy and we all slept like babies the whole trip (which makes all the difference when you are away from home) The kitchen had everything and anything you could possibly need to cook great meals, we cook every night we were there, there is a large co-op store near by that stocks everything you might need. The town of Portree is only a couple of minutes away. Overall we absolutely adored Balmacara cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, inviting, home away from home whilst visiting Skye.

Amazing property

Beautiful house in immaculate condition is a great location with a fantastic yard and view. Easy access to Portree with its restaurants and charm. Our daughters made friends with the cows and sheep nearby. Fiona, the property manager, was friendly and helpful and always available. We will be back!

Lovely nest to rest.

Six of us stayed for three nights in June. We explored and hiked Skye all day and would retreat back to this cozy and lovely cottage every evening. The owner was a great communicator and we were greeted by the nicest caretaker. Our favorite room was the conservatory where we would share our photos in the evening and sip coffee in the morning. The kitchen was fully functional and we cooked dinner there all three nights. Mainly because we could not get a booking in Portree. No bother. It was more relaxing to sit in the conservatory and eat with that amazing view (we had a full rainbow one night!) The cottage was clean and very well kept. The beds were very comfortable. I recommend this place 100% if you are going to enjoy Skye.

Amazing views inside and out!

Beautiful property with views over Portree. There was nothing we needed. Beautiful large home with every amenity. Great place to explore Isle of Skye. Book your dinner reservations early because it’s a crazy race for a dinner place!

Great Base for Isle of Skye Adventure

Balmacara Cottage is central to everything a person wants to do on Skye. Classic Cottage with modern conveniences. A great conservatory to unwind in at the end if the day or coffee in the morning before heading out. You can catch red deer feeding out the window. Mr. Matheson the owner and Fiona the housekeeper are very responsive and make you feel welcome. 5 minutes into Portree, less than an hour to Dunvegan or Talisker. You can hit all the high points and be home for dinner.

What a little gem!

Tucked away on the outskirts of Portree but overlooking both the town and stunning countryside, Balmacara Cottage is an absolute gem. Beautifully decorated and has all the facilities anyone could want in a holiday home. Large, comfortable bedrooms with more than sufficient storage for a holiday stay. Our only regret is that we only booked in for 3 nights. Next time we will book for longer! The large conservatory at the back of the house overlooks Portree and the surrounding countryside and is set up for both eating and relaxing and is an excellent place to both start and finish the day. Our host provided DVDs and games for when the weather is inclement but fortunately, our stay was blessed with sunshine. I can highly recommend this property.
