Nice house, comfortable and well equipped. Unfortunately we CANNOT recommend it. For the first time ever in our lives we’ve had a very bad experience with the house (just bad luck!) and the owner (really difficult). We’re sorry to share this bad review but hope it helps others in the future.
The 2 main reasons why we rented it were the heated pool and because it was close enough to arrive to enjoy a bit of our first evening with the kids, unpack, etc and put them to bed at a reasonable time after a long trip. Sadly none of that was possible. Despite asking the owner to confirm (and he did in writing!) both before and after doing the booking, that the pool would be heated and ready to use on arrival, we found a dirty non-heated pool that was only fixed and heated 2 days before we had to leave, sad with three small kids (oldest is 4!) who see the pool but cannot use it.
SAnother problem was that the owner had committed the house to the previous tenants until 7 pm on the day of our arrival and he forgot this when he rented it to us, only remembering to tell us when we were already on our way.This meant that despite waking up the whole family at 4 am to take an early ferry and getting there at 2 pm, we could not check in until 7pm. The children were exhausted, the house was dirty (nothing had been cleaned as we literally waited outside the door until the previous tenants left) and we were really frustrated.
These 2 reasons led us to ask the owner for a financial compensation. We tried to communicate tirelessly with him (he is not very responsive) which is the last thing you want to do after all this. He finally offered a 10% compensation which we argued was unfair. After days of not answering our messages through the website we sent 1 text to his mobile and 1 email asking him to please answer. He finally did asking us to stop “harassing him” and said that we were trying to take“financial advantage of an unfortunate situation”. He also blames us for breaking a glass in a bathroom which is not only FALSE but also how can he blame us (and not the previous tenants?) when no inventory check was done in between (who allowed us in didn't have time to do it but said it wouldn't be a problem).
We still haven’t received our deposit back (left 13 days ago). We feel extremely frustrated and unprotected.
Just hope nobody else go through this type of experience during their precious holidays.
