All year round our favorite thing about Dune Nest is the oceanfront location and view. When you step out on the deck the sight and sound of the waves is the most magical thing in the world. Lounging on the deck we enjoy watching the sunrise, seeing the dolphins play and pelicans fly by while sipping our coffee. Evenings bring the colors of the sunset across the eastern Atlantic sky and moon rises that are spectacular. It's a great backdrop for a glass of wine to wind down from a day of total relaxation. Perfect.

Fall and winter is also a spectacular time in the Outer Banks. Less visitors mean the pace is slower, quieter and often you can go for long walks on the beach without seeing anyone else. The weather is beautiful and cool with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the heat of the summer still radiating in the ocean and pool. We swam in the Atlantic in mid-October last year and it was great! In addition fishing is great with piers and surf offering you many opportunities to bring home dinner to cook up in Dune Nest's fully fitted kitchen. Don't forget if you are a golfer, there are many courses nearby and you don't even have to have a tee time -- most of the time! For us shoppers, its those 'end of the season' sales that keep me excited and of course all of these activities help you work up an appetite for the many good restaurants that Duck and the nearby towns have open. No reservations needed! As the weather changes it never ceases to amaze us how there are so many more shells on the beach in the fall and winter. You will see evidence of our finds in Dune Nest!
