This is a great choice for guests who want to explore Edinburgh, as it's within easy walking distance of Princes Street, the Royal Mile, the University, and the beautiful park known as the Meadows. The neighborhood, Tollcross, seems to be popular with students and is nothing posh, but we always felt safe. As the flat is on the ground floor at the front of the building, we did have some street noise but found it did not affect our sleep in the very comfortable bed. There is a small kitchen that we made use of for tea and simple breakfasts. The flat's decor is pleasing, and we found everything very clean.
Clare, the owner, is most welcoming and provides a number of suggestions for places to eat nearby, many of which we tried and loved during our four-day stay. Indabas, a tapas restaurant just a block away, was one we especially enjoyed, and we also recommend a leisurely breakfast across the street at Cafe Class. Bennet's is a lovely old-fashioned pub just a block away.
All in all, this was one of the best decisions we made on accommodations during more than two weeks of travel in the U.K. Many thanks, Clare!
