The host is lovely and did all that was needed to make our arrival smooth and problem-free. The route between the parking place and the apartment is not straightforward but stick with it, it is so handy and easy to access once you get used to it. The host does not speak much English; shamefully, we did not learn Spanish, but on moving-in day, she had a young relative with her to translate and Google Translate did the rest. Why we give 4 stars not 5: we were kept awake by street noise, especially from the cafe below and we could hear the neighbours’ TV. If you are not a light sleeper, you will have no problem. I am fairly sure the price went up after we booked (over a year ago), but we were there for the eclipse and it was still a reasonable price. The apartment is in a great location, we loved the walk to and from the beach/old town, so many routes to explore and things to see. The apartment is compact but worked for the 4 of us. We were there a week and ate breakfast in the apartment but never cooked a meal; the kitchen is equipped well enough to have done that. Another comfortable chair in the living room would have been good. We had no problems with the apartment so didn’t need to contact our host during the stay. She contacted us to advise us on local events that we could access, this was appreciated. We loved Gijon! The beach is great, there is lots to see, the people are friendly and the (noisy at night) cafe serves great coffee and has very friendly staff.
