La Pergola is a tastefully restored landowners farmhouse, known as a Casa Colonica. The house is situated in a beautiful area of ​​Tuscany surrounded by hills with olive groves and pines. Situated above the ancient Medici village of Buti with fabulous views over a large area of Tuscany, La Pergola is located only 30 minutes drive from Pisa airport and perfect for visiting many of the famous Tuscan towns. It is a quiet location, offering privacy and relaxation. The historic village of Buti is 1.5 kms walk, where you will find small shops, restaurants and bars.

The building is a former farmhouse that has been restored using original materials (brick, wood, stone) and furnished with antique furniture in the tradition of the region.

On the ground floor is the well equipped modern kitchen, dining room with traditional open fireplace, a bedroom with two single beds, and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs is a master bedroom with en-suite toilet (no shower or bath), a single bedroom, a large bedroom containing a double bed and a single bed leading to a small terrace, and a bathroom with bathtub. The house also has another terrace for sunbathing. The garden is terraced over a few levels.

The property includes a 10 x 4 metre private swimming pool with a nice sunbathing area. At the front of the house a large pergola shades the terrace which has a table and chairs, perfect for outdoor dining. There's also a barbecue and stone pizza oven. From the pool and from the terrace you can enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding hills and on the village of Buti. There is free Wi-Fi.

The village of Buti lies below the villa. To reach the villa our guests must drive through the beautiful olive grove on a farmers road. The road is gravel and quite narrow with bends and we do not recommend coming with trailers or caravans or very low down sports cars. The road has little traffic as it is only used by the farmers and 5 other houses.

The garden is fully fenced and suitable for dogs.

The location is ideal as a starting point to visit the cities of Tuscany: Lucca and Bagni di Lucca, nearby San Miniato, Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano and Certaldo. On the Ligurian coast, while the resorts of Viareggio and Forti dei Marmi are within easy reach as well as the beautiful coastal villages of Lerici and Portovenere.

A tourist tax of 1 euro per person per day will be collected by the owner.

The pool is open from mid May to mid September. Can be opened early/ late for a feee.

Great Journey

Beautiful place to get away from it all and relax

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Pergola. The owner, Caterina, was very helpful. We spent a lot of time lounging by the pool and chatting round the table on the vine-covered terrace. We had everything we needed. The house is located high on the side of the valley and offers amazing views. Just be aware that some of the route to the house is quite narrow and is not for nervous drivers.

Perfect Location for a Tuscany Holiday

We were looking for a place that would truly give us the feel and atmosphere of Tuscany - and this Villa is Perfect! With majestic views of Buti, a beautiful landscape that puts you right in the heart of Tuscany, and the most amazing host (Caterina), and wonderful townspeople (Roberta and others), we were so welcome and honored to become part of the community. We can't say enough about how spectacular the villa, location and time spent was. Truly magical!!!! Comfortable, lovely Villa which is a great location for doing day trips to various villages throughout Tuscany. We highly recommend this Villa for your stay in Tuscany.

Peaceful get-away

Very rustic yet comfortable and thoughtful appointed historic villa. Catarina was such a gracious host and took great care to stay in contact through whatsapp to help us plan our stay and access local opportunities. It was lovely to come home after a long day of sightseeing and relax by the pool with aperitivo. While beautiful and thrilling, drive up the mountain is not for the faint of heart and is not recommended to navigate at night. Location is outstanding and Buti is charming. Recommended highly.

rustic stone house in the hills

Our company of six spent 8 enjoyable days at la pergola.As mentioned in the description of the house it is quite an adventure to get there, narrow, steep road. Not ideal for big cars and steep steps to get to the house.But in the end there is the reward.Stunnig views of Buti, especially at night. Very serene and relaxing place.Spent hours sitting outside, having dinner under the pergola, listenig to the sounds of nature, roosters and chickens included. All in all, lovely place.

Katrina and colleagues were amazing. So very helpful.house was just as pictures show. Views are amazing. The downside is for elderly outside patio uneven due to natural stone. Beautiful, but elderly need to be careful. For that age group there is a lot of steps from car to house. The drive from Carpark at the bottom of the hill up to house is not for nervous drivers!!!! But apart from that its a rustic farmhouse with incredible views. And the hostess and colleagues were brillant.

La Pergola: Just beautiful!

We had a fantastic time at La Pergola and especially Caterina, the owner, was just great! The views are simply stunning and the house is really authentic, just lovely! We enjoyed the pool and terrace as well as the patio. Just be prepared that in August it is very hot, also at night (!!) and there is no AC! You need to open the windows which have no fly screens and at that time of the year there were a lot of mosquitos which troubled some of us a lot. We used tons of mosquito spray. Our kids were fascinated by the wildlife around (and sometimes in) the house, which you get used to very quickly and which gives you the full Tuscan countryside experience. Just be aware that the description on fewo mentions a TV and DVD player as well as Billard: these ammentities are not there. But the wifi works as mentioned. Overall it was a fantastic holiday with so much to see and do and taste and smell ... we loved Italy and Buti a lot! Grazie mille!

Wonderful house, view and pool

A wonderful and charming house with a perfect pool to our needs. A splendid view over the valley and a very calm and isolated location. The road to the house is narrow and steep but ok to drive. You can easily walk to and from the town of Buti (1,5 km) but walking back uphill in 35 degrees is a challenge. Buti is small but has good restaurants, a few cafes and several shops. The owner was really nice and helpful and so were the neighbours. It was possible to order breakfast and dinner which was great. Unfortunately, we can only give two stars and we do not want to return to this house for holidays. The reason is that big mice the size of rats lived there as well and ran back and forth across the terrace. We also discovered them inside at night in all rooms which made it difficult to sleep - partly because we had to close the windows. The owner took it seriously and we got the impression that she will do what she can to get rid of the problem. Friends of Tuscany, who acted as intermediary between Abritel and the owner, were of no help and neglected the problem.

Wir haben sehr schöne 14 Tage hier verbracht. Das Highlight war der Pool. Die Lage ist besonders und es ist sehr ruhig. Genau das richtige zum Abschalten. Die Anfahrt ist abenteuerlich aber machbar mit dem richtigen Fahrzeug, wie im Inserat beschrieben. Ein kleines Manko waren die Matratzen, diese könnten mal erneuert werden. Während unseres Aufenthaltes ging die Spülmaschine kaputt, aber wir haben schnellstmöglich Ersatz bekommen.

Es war traumhaft!

Eine wirklich tolle Lage über dem Ort Buti, in Mitten von Olivenbäumen, in der Natur. Der Blick auf den Ort und in die weite Ferne. Gerade am Abend und den Nachstunden haben wir die funkelnden Lichter sehr genossen. Das Haus und der Pool waren in sehr gutem Zustand und sehr sauber! Eine, für uns, absolute wohlfühl Oase!

A lovely quiet retreat

We had a wonderful time during a very hot spell. The pool was a lifesaver! The house was well-appointed and spacious. The road up to the property is very 'rustic', but it's worth it for the amazing views.

Heerlijke vakantie in Buti

We verbleven met twee families in Buti. De inrichting van het huisje is eenvoudig. Maar ja, het is nu eenmaal vakantie, dus ook weer niet zo belangrijk. De eigenaresse is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze maakt een voortreffelijke olijfolie, moet je zeker proberen. Het zwembad is perfect, een heel mooi uitzicht. De weg naar het huis is een leuke uitdaging met de Auto, met de fiets nog dubbel zo leuk.
